Ducati Multistrada 950 S

The Multistrada has always been a handsome motorcycle for an adventure tourer, a type of motorcycle which is generally preferred more for its function rather than form. However, the Ducati Multistrada 950 is one of the nicest and most modern-looking offerings in the premium middleweight adventurer tourers in the country.

At the front, the Ducati Multistrada 950 has got a sleek but busy looking fascia, with a V-shaped stretched headlamp assembly. This entire headlamp is an all-LED unit and also comes integrated with daytime running LEDs. Just below the headlamp unit, you get a pointier looking front nose, which house the faux air vents for aerodynamics at higher speeds.

Complementing the touring appeal of the motorcycle is a large and transparent windscreen above the front fascia. The Ducati Multistrada 950 also gets handlebar crash guards, which come integrated with LED turn indicators on them.

The Ducati Multistrada 950 gets an exotic design language for an adventure tourer on the side. The large and beefy looking fuel tank of the motorcycle blends in well with the entire front end, thus giving it a sport-tourer stance. The fuel tank is again complemented with wide S-shaped fuel tank extensions, which further make the motorcycle look wide and edgy.

The split seat assembly of the Ducati Multistrada 950 looks large, with the rider seat being a large, well curved and well-cushioned unit. A part of the red-coloured trellis frame is exposed, along with the grey-coloured engine which also gets a well-padded engine cowl below it.

The Ducati Multistrada 950 gets a rather simple design when moving towards the rear. There are negligible body panels towards the back, as the bare-bones rear side plastic panels end up with a compact boomerang-shaped LED tail lamp.

The Ducati Multistrada 950 gets a 5-inch full-TFT instrument console, which is home to all the necessary data on display. It also comes with support for Bluetooth connectivity and an optional multimedia system. The motorcycle also gets a couple of handy features like self-cancelling turn indicators and backlit switchgear.

Rather than being a proper hardcore off-road tourer, the Ducati Multistrada 950 is more of a long-distance tourer with mild off-road riding abilities. The motorcycle has been bestowed with a suspension combination of 48mm upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and mono-shock suspension with a double-sided aluminium swingarm at the rear. Both the suspension units are compatible with electronic compression and rebound damping adjustment. For braking duties, the motorcycle gets 320mm dual discs at the front and a single 265mm disc at the rear.

The Ducati Multistrada 950 is powered by a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, L-twin Testastretta 937cc engine, which also powers a whole range of other Ducati models like Supersport 950, Monster and Hypermotard. Here in the Ducati Multistrada 950 too, the engine is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox and churns out a maximum power output of 113 bhp and a maximum torque output of 94 Nm.

Being a premium adventure tourer from a European motorcycle maker, the Ducati Multistrada 950 S is loaded with electronic riding aids and safety features. The motorcycle has a cornering ABS, traction control, riding modes, power modes, cornering headlamps, vehicle hold control, up-and-down quick shifter and cruise control.

The Ducati Multistrada 950 S is surely on the pricier side. However, it is a high-quality motorcycle that gets the best of all the aspects – be its engine, suspension and brakes or the features and electronic riding aids on offer.
