In the year 2020, BMW Motorrad celebrated 40 years of GS OR Gelande Strasse by announcing the 2020 F750GS, F850GS, and F850 GS Adventure. While the mechanical bits remain the same, the ‘40 Years GS Edition’ F-series GS models benefit from some technical revisions and new graphics. Included in the revision list is a new LED turn indicators, cockpit located USB charging port, ABS Pro, and Dynamic Traction Control. Powering the F-series adventure tourer is an 853 cc liquid-cooled, four-valve, parallel-twin mill making 77 hp and 83 Nm on the F750GS. The F750GS 40 Years GS Edition gets silver handlebars, a ‘40 Years’ logo on side panels, a galvanised radiator cowl, and matte black rims. Also, part of the styling kit is a black-yellow seat with the GS logo and yellow head protectors.

BMW F 750 GS Review 2024
Abhishek Katariya says
BMW has always been very particular about its GS line of adventure tourers. The BMW F 750 GS falls in the middleweight ADV segment and forms the perfect middle ground between the entry-level 310 GS and the big 1250 GS. The ADV screams attention with its big 853cc twin-cylinder engine that produces enough power to be a delight to ride on the long open roads.
The present iteration of the motorcycle was launched in 2020, along with the F 850 GS and the F 850 GS Adventure to mark 40 years of the GS series. At the moment, the adventure tourer comes at a starting price of RM 59,900.
BMW F 750 GS Design
The BMW F 750 GS holds the typical GS adventure styling with a big front end and a sleek rear end. The headlamp looks start-of-the-art with an uneven design. The front beak extends to the semi-fairing, which does not occupy a chunk of the front profile. The exhaust is extended higher towards the rear seat. At around 225 kg kerb weight, it is not the heaviest motorcycle in the segment. The front gets a 19-inch 110-section tyre, while the 17-inch rear works with a 150-section.
It has air intake ducts at the fairing, ensuring the engine remains at working temperature. The fairing is not very big and is made of clear glass, just like any other GS adventure motorcycle.
F 750 GS Ride & Handling
The ride quality of the BMW F 750 GS replicates what the German auto giant is known for. Due to the difference in the tuning of this specific model, it feels more torquey in general. The torque is distributed across the rev range, so high gears and low speeds do not feel rough. Moreover, there are two riding modes, Rain and Road. These modes change the engine character as well as the effectiveness of ABS.
The 15-litre fuel tank appears to be of decent capacity, though the full riding range is not very impressive. The fairing does a decent job of curbing the wind blast despite being small, thanks to the low seating ergonomics. The cooling system does a good job of keeping the engine cool, though normal city riding overheats the engine a bit. The conventional telescopic front and swingarm rear suspension have a decent travel of 151 mm and 177 mm respectively.
BMW F 750 GS Engine & Fuel Consumption
The BMW F 750 GS is powered by the same engine that powers the F 850 GS, though with small power output. This 853cc, twin-cylinder engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 77 hp at 7,500 RPM, along with a high torque figure of 83 Nm, which comes at 6,250 RPM. This produced power is channelled to the wheel via a 6-speed gearbox.
The 2-into-1 exhaust system has a decent note and sounds pleasing when revving between the mid-range and top-end.
F 750 GS Braking & Safety
If there was one thing that the BMW F 750 GS excels in, it has to be the braking. The front dual front discs have a very strong bite. Even the rear brake piston and rotor does a good job, but not even half as good as the front. After mounting panniers and a top box, the additional weight takes away a bit of the stopping power from the rear brake and it works merely to slow down the bike and not stop it.
The addition of ABS, however, makes things safer, especially considering the fact that the front brakes are too strong. The motorcycle also gets stability control, riding modes, and optional traction control.
BMW F 750 GS Verdict
The BMW F 750 GS is an excellent adventure tourer at the given price point and compares against some of the segment leaders, like the Versys and the Tiger. However, it still has one of the more refined engines among its competitors, which gives it an edge.
The presence of ABS, stability control, and optional traction control makes it extremely desirable. However, being an adventure tourer, the fuel tank deserves to be more than 15 litres, which could be a big disadvantage, especially considering that the 853cc engine is not the most fuel-efficient.
