Renault Zoe

Unlike the new-era all-electric offerings, the Renault Zoe looks slightly more conventional when it comes to the interior layout. However, there is no dearth of tech-rich features in the cabin of the Zoe, which make it look very upmarket on the inside.

The Renault Zoe has a nice T-themed three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with silver inserts for the spokes and a full-TFT 10-inch instrument console behind it. While the lower variants get a smaller 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the top-spec GT-Line variant gets a portrait-style free-standing 9.3-inch screen for the same.

Behind the touchscreen system, the dashboard of the Zoe has a curved layout with an AC vent panel positioned in the middle, while the cabin has upholstery and trim made of ethical, eco-conscious materials. The lower centre console of the Zoe gets a panel for the climate control buttons surrounded by a gloss black finish, with the transmission panel housing a stubby gear lever finished in premium-looking satin silver touch.

The other features which make the Renault Zoe look and feel new-age include heated rearview mirrors, seats and steering wheel, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel, wireless charger, premium BOSE audio system, and push start-stop button.

The Renault Zoe might be an all-new fresh, and up-to-date design, but despite that, it still manages to look fresh and chic. The overall design of the Zoe manages to look youthful, thanks to its curvy lines and compact dimensions, making it a perfect urban car in its appearance.

At the front, the Renault Zoe welcomes one with its sleek fascia, which has a wide smile-like appearance. This fascia comprises a curved Y-shaped closed grille with the Renault logo in the middle and sweptback bird-eye-shaped LED headlamps with daytime running LEDs on the sides. Even the front bumper here looks charismatic with a knurled chrome finish for the lower air dam in the middle and air vents in the corners with LED lights surrounded by chrome in between them.

From the side, the Renault Zoe looks very aerodynamic, thanks to the well-contoured curves on the bonnet and sharp curves flowing through the door panels. Even the C-pillar has a curved design, which extends towards the back portion of the rear windows. While the Play gets 15-inch steel wheels and Iconic gets 16-inch grey alloy wheels, the 17-inch machined alloys in the GT-Line variant look the smartest.

Renault has kept things quite simple but eye-pleasing at the back, with the Zoe getting small-sized diamond-shaped tail lamps on the corners of the boot lid. Featuring LED inserts, these tail lamps also house dynamic LED turn indicators within them. The curves on the sides of the rear windscreen and around the license plate housing, which flow down towards the rear bumper, make the Zoe look eye-catching.

Thanks to the compact dimensions and light steering setup, the Renault Zoe is a breeze to drive in urban conditions and tight city traffic, which makes it a perfect and almost flawless compact car for daily driving. Even the suspension setup, in Renault’s trademark fashion, has been perfectly tuned for comfortable ride quality.

The Renault Zoe is offered with two powertrain options in two different versions of the car – R110 and R135. The R110 variants are powered by a 108 PS electric motor, which makes 225 Nm of torque, while the R135 variants get a 135 PS electric motor, which generates 245 Nm of torque. Both versions get a 52 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which claims 395 km in R110 and 386 km in R135 variants. The Zoe claims a top speed of 134 kmph for the R110 variants and 139 kmph for the R135 variants.

Despite it being positioned as a compact car, the Renault Zoe does not compromise on safety, and it gets a full suite of safety features including four airbags, ABS with EBD, hill start assist, an electronic stability program, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, and tyre pressure monitoring system. The package feels even more desirable with the ADAS suite of features, which includes lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot warning, automatic high beam, traffic sign recognition, over speed protection, and adaptive cruise control.
