The space and practicality of the C-Class Saloon need no introduction. There is enough space for the driver and the seat can be adjusted to accommodate long-legged drivers. The buttons on the dashboard are within easy reach of the driver and there should be no problem in accessing it. All other functions are controlled via the central console. The driver gets a commanding view of the road, but the small rear window could make it difficult to see over the shoulder. The space on the rear may not be suited for 3 adults on a long journey. The legroom and the headroom are decent though. The boot space may not hold ground against most of its competition. However, the folding rear seats may help you make more space for the storage.

The interior is definitely in accordance with the luxury one would expect. The interiors are inspired from the S-Class and should come across as more enticing than the ones seen in BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. However, the actual quality of some of the plastic material may not be comparable to the way it appears. There is a touchscreen infotainment console mounted high on the dashboard. This can now be also controlled via the touchpad with a controller. You can even get the Burmester sound system as a part of the Premium Plus Package.

The all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class is defined by the new front design as well as that of LED headlamps and taillights. The base variant comes with a 3.0L V6 Biturbo engine capable of delivering 367 Hp. It can reach from zero to 100 kmph in 4.7 seconds. The company claims fuel consumption of around 8L for 100 km. The top variant can reach 100 kmph in only 4 seconds. The performance is fast enough to compete with even the best in the segment.

The sport and AML line get adaptive dampers as standard, whereas the SE gets steel springs with passive dampers. The latter may not result in a comfortable ride and former may still not be comparable to the likes of Audi A4. Airmatic which is an optional air suspension is reasonably priced and gives a good performance on rough pothole-riddled roads.

The Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive enhances the entire driving experience. There is an Active Blind Spot Assist that helps prevent collision with other vehicles in the blind spot. The sensors monitor such a presence and a red triangle appears on the rearview mirror. If the driver fails to notice it and continues with lane change, there is a flashing of warning lights along with an audible warning. If still, the driver continues, the system will warn with course correction braking and may even manoeuvre the vehicle out of danger zone.

The Active Brake Assist with cross-traffic function to prevent rear-end collision and accidents with crossing pedestrians. This feature can execute warning, increase brake pressure, and carry out autonomous partial as well as full braking. The Distance Pilot Distronic helps the driver maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front. The system is based on radar and brakes or accelerates to take the car to the desired speed. It has a driving mode, Sport or Comfort which have an impact on the driving characteristics.

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class Saloon also comes with a Pre-SAFE Plus feature which helps in preventing rear-end collisions. The system flashes high-frequency lights to alert the driver following behind. It also locks the brakes when the vehicle is stationary to prevent its forward movement. The Active lane keeping assist and head-up display complete the safety features offered by the vehicle.

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class Saloon is available for a starting price of RM 215,957 which can go all the way up to RM 385,883. The car is relatively a bit pricey as compared to some of the closest competition. The boot space is smaller and the ride may not be enjoyable with standard suspension. However, apart from these minor downsides, the car looks elegant with a new revamped design. The features on the interior are more than enough and so is space. The interior cabin is well-designed utilising maximum available space. The base variant comes with packed features which is something one would expect at the price point. The CO2 emission is also less, so you can drive this amazing car and be assured that you are doing your little bit for the environment.
