GWM Ora 07

The Ora 07 is offered with two leather upholstery choices—all-black in both variants and a more premium full-tan theme exclusively in the Performance variant. The cabin layout looks very funky and sportscar-like, with the sleek and swooping centre console flowing down while housing a brushed aluminium panel for the buttons of the climate control and audio system.

There are plenty of satin silver inserts over the inner door grab handles, steering wheel, centre console and upper layer of the dashboard. The full-TFT 10.25-inch instrument console gets an old-school three-pod layout behind the premium-looking multi-functional steering wheel, while the top of the centre console is dominated by a free-standing 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The Ora 07's cabin also gets other premium features, like powered front seats with memory and a welcome function for the driver’s seat, ventilated front seats with massage function, ambient lighting, an air purifier, and a powered tailgate. 

One look at the Ora 07 might make one believe that its fastback styling is heavily inspired by the previous-generation Porsche Panamera. However, like the Ora 03 electric hatchback, the Ora 07 also nails the neo-retro design with excellence, giving the coupe-like design a funky appearance. 

The Ora 07 has a rounded influence in the design of its all-LED headlamp with projectors and circular LED DRLs and tail lamps with chrome surrounds. The entire design looks extremely curvaceous, with smooth contours for the bumper, fenders and roofline that flow dramatically downwards in the coupe fashion. The Ora 07 also has frameless doors, a panoramic glass roof and a gorgeous set of alloy wheels – 18-inch in the Long Range and 19-inch in the Performance variant. 

Both the variants of the Ora 07 electric fastback have a conventional suspension setup of Macpherson struts at the front and multi-link at the rear. They also have five driving modes – Normal, Well-Being, Sport, Eco and Individual, along with three steering modes – Light, Comfort and Sport, giving the driver total control in sync with his driving preferences. For a more engaging driving experience, the Performance variant also gets a Turbo Mode in its suite of driving modes. 

The long-range variant of the Ora 07 has a front-mounted single motor setup, which claims 204 PS of maximum power and 340 Nm of maximum torque. This variant can do the 0-100 kmph sprint in 7.9 seconds, while able to reach a top speed of 170 kmph.

Meanwhile, the Performance variant’s dual-motor setup gives it an all-wheel drive configuration, which claims a maximum power output of 408 PS and a maximum torque output of 680 Nm. With a top speed of 180 kmph, this variant can reach the 100 kmph mark from a standstill in 4.3 seconds, making it seriously quick for a car of its price.

Both the variants have an 83.99kWh variant as standard, which delivers an NEDC-certified range of 640 km in the Long Range variant and 550 km in the Performance variant. 

The Ora 07 is excellently equipped with several electronic driving aids to make you feel safer, which include Adaptive Cruise Control, Intelligent Cruise Assistance, Traffic Jam Assist, Front Collision Warning, Auto Emergency Braking, Auto Emergency Braking-Pedestrians, Auto Emergency Braking-Bicycle, Parking Distance Control, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Emergency Lane Keeping Assist, Intelligent Evade, Lane Change Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Overspeed Alert, Intelligent Speed Alerting, Secondary Collision Mitigation, Emergency Signal System, Door Opening Warning, Rear Collision Warning, AEB Junction Assist,  Emergency Braking at Low Speed and Blind Spot Detection.

Other standard safety features offered in the Ora 07 are front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic parking brake, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree parking camera, traction control, electronic stability control, hill start assist and roll movement intervention.  

The Ora 07 comes across as an honest attempt with a very unique neo-retro touch to its fastback design, along with an extensive list of features and appreciable performance.
