BMW 7 Series Sedan

The cabin of the all-new BMW 7-Series sedan is an extravaganza of premium elements, themes and quality bits, which make it feel like one of the most opulent car interiors of all time. BMW is offering two distinctive leather upholstery options for the new 7-Series - Merino Black and Merino Tartufo, with ‘Fineline’ black with a high-gloss metal effect as a standard trim option.

The flat-bottom high-tech three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, which has satin silver and gloss black inserts, has a huge 14.9-inch curved full-TFT display for the driver’s cockpit. For the rear occupants, the 7-Series surprises with its auto-foldable 31.3-inch roof-mounted BMW theatre screen and the sky lounge panoramic glass sunroof, which features a dynamic ambient lighting system.

The dashboard of the BMW 7-Series sedan further wows one with its interaction bar, which has a faceted look and accommodates controls for audio and climate control. Adding more top-class charisma to the cabin of the BMW 7-Series sedan is the dynamic ambient lighting that stretches to the door panels and an executive lounge seating with continuous leg rest for the rear seat occupants.

The BMW 7-Series sedan further pampers the rear occupants with neatly integrated 5.5-inch screens in the rear door panels for controlling the operations of the roof-mounted theatre screen and various other in-car functions. It also has a fantastic-sounding 39-speaker Bowers-&-Wilkins audio system with 4D audio experience and 1965 Watts, which makes the entire cabin feel like a live theatre.

With this all-new seventh-generation version of the 7-Series, BMW has made a radical shift in its design department, which makes the car look extremely futuristic and bold in its appearance. However, this same radical design might not be a favourite of those who want their cars to look subtle, because the new BMW 7-Series sedan is not such a car.

The aggressive-looking front look of the BMW 7-Series sedan comes with split iconic glow crystal headlamps, which along with the bold double-kidney grille with the illuminated contour theme, makes the front look busy and extremely radical. Adding more exclusivity to the front profile are the Swarovski crystal elements for the grille and the front bumper garnish.

The BMW BMW 7-Series sedan screams its authoritative road presence when it comes to its side profile, with the long wheelbase and long and muscular-looking front and rear fenders and door panels adding heavy visual bulk to its stance. There is a rich-looking chrome garnish around the window frame in the BMW 7-Series sedan, highlighting Hofmeister kink towards the rear. The BMW 7-Series sedan has 19-inch alloys in the Pure Excellence variant and 20-inch sportier alloys in the M Sport variant.

The BMW 7-Series sedan features a pair of narrow L-shaped combination LED tail lamps at the back, with the rest of the boot lid having a rather clean design. The rear profile also has a slim chrome strip at the bottom of the rear bumper, adding some more richness to the look of the car.

In both variants, the BMW 7-Series sedan has been equipped with independent electronically controlled front and rear air suspension. This technologically advanced suspension setup, along with the multiple drive modes on offer, allows the occupants to have complete control of the steering feedback and ride quality.

The only engine option powering both the variants of the BMW 7-Series sedan is a combination of a 3.0-litre inline-six turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor, along with a lithium-ion battery for pure electric range. With 313 PS of power and 450 Nm of torque from the engine and 197 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque from the electric battery, the BMW 7-Series sedan claims a maximum power output of 489 PS and a peak torque output of 700 Nm in the combined mode.

The BMW 7-Series sedan also has a 22.1kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which offers an electric-only range of 89 km through plug-in charging. With a top speed of 250 kmph and 0-100 kmph claimed the timing of 4.9 seconds, the BMW 7-Series sedan Plug-in hybrid claims an astonishing fuel efficiency of nearly 100 kmpl.

Along with basic essential safety features, including ten airbags, ABS with EBD, 360-degree parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, hill start assist and hill descent control, the BMW 7-Series sedan feels complete with an expansive suite of radar-controlled ADAS features offered as standard.

The overall radical design of the BMW 7-Series sedan might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but this extremely bold design, along with an extremely opulent interior cabin and top-notch fuel efficiency, performance and ride quality, make the new 7-Series a mind-blowing experience in visual art and performance on wheels.
