Yamaha Malaysia calls back Tracer 900 GT

KUALA LUMPUR: The official distributor of Yamaha motorcycles in Malaysia, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor Sdn. Bhd has recently issued an official notification for the owners of the Tracer 900 GT. The notice recalls the bike because of the faulty front stop switch kit that may put riders at risk of a dangerous crash, if not replaced on time. 

Thus, the company is set to carry a replacement program of the front stop switch kit, which will be conducted in stages. The Yamaha Tracer 900 GT affected units that are being recalled are mentioned below:

If you are not able to judge whether or not your bike comes under the recall, don’s worry, as Yamaha Malaysia will start notifying the owners of the affected units on an individual basis from the end of this month. On receipt of which, the customers are requested to contact their preferrable Yamaha authorized dealers or Hong Leong Yamaha Motor Sdn. Bhd.’s branches to book an appointment for the replacement of the affected parts.

The automaker further mentioned that the recall is a preventive measure and therefore in the meantime, the customers can continue to ride their bikes according to the instructions given in the owner’s manual. Also. it is to be noted that no incident of crash or injury due to the faulty front stop switch kit has been reported so far.
