Yamaha Malaysia introduces new colours for the NMax

First launched in 2015, the Yamaha NMax received a recent update in December last year. And, now the automaker introduces new colour schemes for the popular maxi-scooter - Power Grey and Icon Grey. This means the earlier available Anodised Red is no longer available as an option. The new paint jobs spruce up the sporty styling of the scooter, well enough to impress the young riders.

Upfront, the new Yamaha NMax boasts an LED headlight cluster with integrated LED daytime running lights that enhance the overall visual appeal of the scooter. Included in the key exterior highlights are a large windscreen, a 3D NMax logo below the pillion seat, and a split design LED tail light. The scooter rolls on 13-inch wheels wrapped in 110/70 tyre at the front and 130/70 tyre at the rear.

In terms of convenience, the scooter has a large under-seat storage compartment measuring 23.3 liters, enough to accommodate a full-size helmet. There is a stop & start system which automatically shuts off the engine when the vehicle is stopped and remains idle at traffic lights. Also, a 12V power socket is available inside the front cowl by which riders can charge their smartphones while on the move.

Powering the Yamaha NMax is a 155-cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder mill generating a maximum power output of 14.9 hp at 8000 rpm and a peak torque of 14.4 Nm at 6000 rpm. On the transmission front lies a V-belt automatic gearbox sending power to the ground. The engine’s Blue Core technology makes it more efficient while the Variable Valve Actuation onboard adjusts its fuel intake at pre-specified revs to provide strong torque at a low rev range.

As for suspension, the NMax is equipped with telescopic forks upfront and twin shock absorbers on the back. The braking duties are taken care of by 230 mm hydraulic discs at the front and rear.

Yamaha offers this sassy charming scooter at a starting price of RM 8,998 (excluding road tax, insurance, and registration fee).
