What’s new with the Malaysia-spec Yamaha NMax 155?

KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HYLM), the official distributor of Yamaha vehicles in the country, have introduced two new colours for the 2002 NMax 155.

The stylish Yamaha scooter is now available in - Matte Blue and Matte Green tones. Priced at RM 9,498 excluding insurance, registration, and road tax, the new model is RM 500 dearer than the previous-gen offering. Included with every purchase is a 2-year or 20,000 km warranty against manufacturing defects and a complimentary Yamaha disc lock worth RM 100.

Apart from the new hues and a price hike, what else does the 2022 Yamaha NMax 155 have to offer? Let’s find out -

Engine: Powering the new NMax 155 is a 155cc single-cylinder, SOHC, VVA engine fed by EFI. The unit generates a maximum power of 14.9 hp at 8,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 14.4 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The power is sent to the wheels via a CVT gearbox and belt final drive.

Features: Yamaha’s new scooter packs several comforting features. For instance, it gets LED headlights with four low LED beams and two high beams, LED tail lights, turn indicators with conventional bulbs, and a monochrome LCD display.

The convenience factor is taken care of by inclusions such as a USB charging port, 23.3 under-seat storage compartment, idle start-stop, and 7.1-litre fuel tank (0.5-litre bigger than before).

Braking & handling: Helping the new Yamaha scooter stop are single hydraulic disc brakes at both ends with 230 mm disc.

A smooth ride is ensured by telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear, adjustable for preload.
