    Suzuki Raider R150Fi

Out of the three, the model which received the most overwhelming response at the launch event earlier today was the Suzuki Raider R150Fi.

Powering the new Suzuki Raider is a 150cc 4-valve bucket-tappet DOHC engine which is the most powerful unit ever to be fitted on the Suzuki Raider or “Belang” as it is also known in Malaysia.

The engine now makes 18.2 hp at 10,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 13.8 Nm, which 2.7 hp and 1.3 Nm more than the outgoing model. According to the folks at Suzuki Malaysia, the engine is tuned to provide seamless power delivery throughout the rev range up to 10,000 rpm.

The new Suzuki Raider also comes with a four-hole type fuel injector which injects the optimum amount of fuel to ensure better power and improved fuel efficiency.

The six sensors that are built into the engine ensure that sufficient data is gathered by the ECM to decide the best ratio which will translate into optimum performance at all times.

The bike also features a larger 24mm valve diameter which is 2mm more than the outgoing model, which increases the efficiency of the engine both in terms of power and fuel consumption.

Also standard on the new Suzuki Raider is the Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) plated cylinder which is usually found in larger models, which reduces friction and protects the engine from thermal deformation in the long run.

The exhaust pipe has also grown from 25.4mm to 31.8mm, giving the Raider a more matured exhaust note and better response.

Built on Suzuki’s new Advanced Twin Spar frame which is lighter and more rigid, Suzuki claims that the Raider is just as agile and stable as the GSX-R sports bike.

There is also a full LCD instrument panel now allows the rider to access a multitude of information, and for the first time for the Raider - a sealed chain.

Other standard features of the new Suzuki Raider R150Fi include IRC tubeless tyres, petal disc brakes, newly designed seats, LED bulbs for low and high beams, handlebar with “zig-zag” design, as well as redesigned wing mirrors.

Offered with a two-year or 20,000 km warranty as standard, the new Suzuki Raider R150Fi is available in two colour options (Titan Black and Metallic Mat Stellar Blue), and asks for RM8,173 on the road without insurance.

    Suzuki GSX-R150 and GSX-S150

Sharing the same chassis, both the new Suzuki GSX-S150 and GSX-R150 are essentially the entry level versions of the iconic GSX models that are inspired by Suzuki’s MotoGP winning GSX-R1000.

Firstly, we have the GSX-R150 which uses strong bodywork pieces and fairing that are lighter than most of its competitors. Complementing the design is the lowered seat that offers a sporty riding position for riders who want that added touch of sportiness.

Even though it is only a 150 cc bike, the Suzuki GSX-R150 has gone through extensive wind tunnel testing to ensure optimal level of aerodynamics which plays a big role in its performance.

Inspired by the GSX-R1000, the GSX-R150 is powered by a liquid-cooled 150 cc 4-valve bucket-tappet DOHC engine that produces 19 hp at 10,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 14 Nm at 9,000 rpm.

According to Suzuki, the 150cc engine features numerous technologies that are found in the GSX-R1000, which includes the Optimised Bore and Stroke ratio and an advanced electronic fuel injection system with six sensors.

In addition, the engine comes with a 32 mm inner diameter throttle body which is the largest in the 150 cc category.

Further complementing the powertrain package is the high performance exhaust system with a catalytic converter, racing cylinder coating, and the lightweight Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) aluminium cylinders.

As for the GSX-S150, the technical features are exactly the same as the GSX-R150 except for the fact that it is a naked and doesn’t come with a full fairing.

Both models get the same 6-speed manual transmission, a large 290 mm petal disc brake in front and 187 mm disc at the rear, as well as 17-inch tubeless tyres.

The GSX-S150 and GSX-R150 also come with modern electronic features such as the new keyless ignition system, Suzuki easy start system, and a full LCD instrument panel which gives the rider a wide range of information like the gear position, oil change timing indicator, dual trip meters, as well as an engine speed indicator.

While the GSX-S150 is offered in three colour options (Aura Yellow / Pearl Brilliant White / Metallic Triton Blue), the GSX-R150 comes in either the Suzuki MotoGP colour (Metallic Triton Blue) or Red Titan Black.

Last but not least, the selling price of the Suzuki GSX-S150 and Suzuki GSX-R150 stand at RM10,289 and RM11,329 respectively (on the road without insurance and road tax). Both models come with a standard two-year or 20,000 km warranty.
