Second-gen Modenas Dominar D400 arrives in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian motorcycle market is at its all-time high with companies introducing new models every now and then. The latest being the 2022 MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RS, 2021 Honda CBR150R, new Brixton BX 150, Suzuki Katana, Suzuki GSX-R1000, Suzuki GSX-R1000R, 2021 BMW R nineT range, and many more. So, there is something new for every motorcycle buyer out there. Adding to the list is the new 2021 Modenas Dominar D400 that will make the 400-cc segment exciting.

The new Dominar D400 marks the model’s second-generation and it hosts several styling and firepower updates. Speaking of power, Modenas' new sport-touring is equipped with an updated 373-cc single-cylinder DOHC liquid-cooled mill making a maximum power of 39 hp at 8000 rpm along with a peak torque of 35 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Compared to the previous gen-model the new model makes 5 hp more power. On the transmission front is present a slightly updated six-speed manual unit with assist & slipper clutch that transmits power to the rear wheels.

What else? Another major update comes in the form of a 43 mm upside-down front fork over the previous-gen telescopic setup. This new setup brings in better handling and riding characteristics. Further, improving the bike's overall riding experience is the new twin-barrel exhaust and comfortable seat. Not to forget the frame and Nitrox preload-adjustable rear shock is 24 mm wider.

A few things remain the same as before, like - the 17-inch wheels, full LED headlight with the auto-on feature, 13-litre fuel tank, dual disc brakes (320 mm front & 230 mm rear), and dual-channel ABS.

The new Modenas Dominar D400 is offered in two striking colour options - Charcoal Black and Savannah Green (new hero tone).

As for its price tag, the new Dominar D400 retails for RM 13,997. Note the price excludes registration, insurance, and road tax.
