Meet the Harley-Davidson Icon Collection first model, the Electra Glide Revival
KUALA LUMPUR: Over its long history, Harley Davidson has created more than a few masterpieces, and now it wants to celebrate those. For this, the bike maker has announced the ‘Icons Collection’, which is an annual program offering special edition Harley Davidson models designed with a combination of the brand’s classic design themes and new ideas representing the future of motorcycle style.
Under the new Icon Collection, the company will create one or two models per year in very limited quantity, with a single production run. And, the production of that special model will never be repeated.
“With The Hardwire, we made a commitment to introduce a series of motorcycles that align with our strategy to increase desirability and to drive the legacy of Harley-Davidson,” said Jochen Zeitz, chairman, president, and CEO of Harley-Davidson. “With that in mind, I am proud to introduce our new limited edition Icons Collection, a series of extraordinary adaptations of production motorcycles which look to our storied past and bright future.”
So, here we have the first model of the Harley Davidson Icon Collection - the 2021 Electra Glide Revival, which is based on the 1969 Harley-Davidson FLH Electra Glide. It was the first motorcycle to feature the iconic batwing fairing.
The all-new 2021 Electra Glide Revival features custom paintwork inspired by the original 1969 color scheme. The two-tone tank painted with Hi-Fi Blue and Black Denim is divided with a Birch White bar, along with Hi-Fi Blue paint on the fenders as well as side panels. Contributing to the retro look are the circular headlight and tail light. Other styling highlights include mini-ape handlebars, two exhaust pipes, mirrors with chrome finish, two storage boxes, and Electra Glide Revival badge on the tank and the front mudguard.
In terms of technology, the 2021 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Revival gets a boombox GTS infotainment system with a 6.25-inch screen, voice recognition, and a 5.25-inch speaker. Included in the connectivity options are Apple CarPlay, USB, Bluetooth, and FM.
Powering this icon collection model is an 1868-cc Milwaukee-Eight engine that generates a maximum output of 95.6 bhp at 5,020 rpm and a peak torque of 160 Nm at 3,250 rpm. For sending power to the ground, the engine is mated to a six-speed transmission unit.
With a limited global production of 1,500 serialized examples, the Electra Glide Revival is scheduled to hit the US showrooms this month, at a starting price of $29,199 (RM 119,771).
