    Price

The Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES price tag reads RM 119,388 (excluding road tax, insurance, or registration). Included in the price is a two-year or 20,000km manufacturing warranty (whichever comes earlier).

    Engine and transmission

Powering the new Africa Twin is an improved 1,084-cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine which produces a maximum power of 102 hp at 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 112 Nm at 5,500 rpm. Compared to the predecessor, the torque has been increased by 7%.

As for the gearbox, the bike benefits from an improved six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission, offering a “much more natural, feathered clutch feel on initial take-off and between first and second gears.” It provides the following three modes of operation -

    • Manual Transmission (MT) mode for full manual control via handlebar trigger buttons.
    • Automatic D mode for efficient city and highway riding.
    • Automatic S mode for sportier performance with three levels of intensity.

The DCT also comes with off-road enhancements such as a G switch for improved traction and adapts gear shifts for optimised control.

    Electronic package

The new Honda Africa Twin is also packed with an advanced electronic package featuring Throttle-By-Wire (TBW) management and a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). This upgraded system promises enhanced rider control with four new power levels and three levels of engine braking.

The package also includes Honda Selectable Torque Control, comprising seven intervention levels for managing rear tyreslide, which is significant for off-road riding. However, if you prefer full manual control, you can disable this feature.

Another key feature the IMU enhances is Wheelie Control, which measures pitch angle and rate to adjust engine torque via TBW. The three levels of selectable inputs are - Level 1 permits intentional wheel lifts and smoothens sudden movements, Level 3 prevents front wheel lift, and Level 2 strikes a balance between the two. Just like Honda Selectable Torque Control, this feature can also be deactivated, if not required.

Additionally, there are four default riding modes - Tour, Urban, Gravel, and Off-road, and two customisable USER settings, which enable riders to adjust the bike’s performance as per their preference.

    Suspension & braking

The bike features the Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment suspension system as standard. However, the buyers can choose an advanced system offering “excellent responsiveness by automatically adjusting damping force based on the riding conditions.” It comes with four pre-set modes - Mid, Hard, Soft, and Off-road and a customisable User mode.

The braking duties are handled by twin 310 mm diameter brake discs mated to four-piston callipers at the front and a single disc with a single-piston calliper at the rear. These are complemented by two selectable ABS modes - On-Road mode for improved braking stability on paved surfaces and Off-Road mode for better control and performance on rough terrains.

The revamped Africa Twin boasts a rugged and aerodynamically enhanced design with extended front fairing. It features

    • 5-level adjustable screen
