Malaysia gets new Vespa scooters, the Primavera Color Vibe and GTS 300 range

KUALA LUMPUR: The official distributor of Vespa two-wheelers in Malaysia, Didi Group, has added more new and exciting models to its extensive portfolio. The list comprises Vespa Primavera Color Vibe and the new GTS 300 HPE range. The Primavera Colour Vibe retails for RM 22,300, while the GTS 300 HPE range is offered in two trims - SuperSport and SuperTech, priced at RM 32,900 and RM 36,900.

Let’s know these new Vespa scooters in detail -

Vespa Primavera Color Vibe

The new Primavera Color Vibe pays homage to the classic model first launched in 1968 and is available in two dual-tone liveries of Orange Tramonto Blue Audace. It measures 1,852 mm in length, 680 mm in width and carries a wheelbase of 1,334 mm. The vehicle rolls on 12-inch die-cast aluminium wheels wrapped with 110/70 front and 120/70 rear tyres.

At its core lies a 154.8cc mono-cylinder port-fuel injection engine paired with an electric starter. The system churns out a maximum power of 12.7 hp at 7,750 rpm and a peak torque of 12. 8 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Sending power to the ground is a continuously variable transmission.

On the suspension front, the scooter comes equipped with a single-arm helical spring and a hydraulic shock absorber at the front, and a shock absorber with four pre-load positions at the rear. The braking duties are handled by a single 200 mm stainless hydraulically actuated steel front disc and a mechanically operated 140 mm drum rear unit. These are complemented by a single-channel anti-lock braking system.

Vespa GTS 300 HPE (High-Performance Engine)

The new GTS 300 HPE is a more refined scooter and comes loaded with several new features such as a keyless start, a keyless system for steering lock activation, and keyless seat opening. The new GTS range also benefits from new headlights and tail lights, a new handlebar, and an updated TFT colour instrument panel (SuperTech only). 

The new GTS 300 variants are offered in different colours - 

• SuperSport - Orange Tramonto, Green Olive, White Innocenza, and Black Opaco
• SuperTech - Blue Deep and Grey Quarzo

Dimensionally, the new Vespa GTS is 1,980 mm long and 765 mm wide. The wheelbase is measured at 1,380 mm. It rides on 12-inch wheels.

Powering the new Vespa GTS 300 HPE range is a 278-cc engine generating 23.8 hp of power and 26 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a continuously variable transmission.

The upgraded model also benefits from a new front suspension setup promising high-speed stability. The braking system continues to feature single hydraulic discs on both axles with switchable ABS.
