Is Malaysia getting a new Modenas motorcycle?

KUALA LUMPUR: As per the rumors going around, we’ll be soon getting a new Modenas motorcycle, the 2022 Dominar D400.

Though not a completely new motorcycle, for the model year 2022 it would benefit from several upgrades making it ready for new-age urban youth.

So, let's find out the upgrades the Dominar 400 will be enjoying this time around (last it received a revision in 2021) -

Powertrain

The upgraded Dominar D400 will be powered by the same tried and tested 373 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine making a maximum power of 40 hp along with a peak torque of 35 Nm.

Braking & suspension

Both front and rear tyres get single-disc brake setup and as for suspension there is a 43 mm front forks and Nitrox preload adjustable rear mono-shock suspension.

The new Dominar 400 will also get a taller windscreen, a USB charging port, handguards, backrest setup, an engine bash plate, a luggage rack, and novel dual dash displays.

Price

With the inclusion of all the features, a slight prie hike from the current RM 13,997 is expected.

Once launched the new Dominar D400 will be a great addition to the rapidly growing entry-level and middleweight sport tourer segment.
