Ducati Scrambler Icon updated for 2019

KUALA LUMPUR: Ducati has added the 2019 Scrambler Icon in its lineup with quite a lot of updates made. It is presently safer, more advanced and comfortable than the other models in the range.

Aesthetically, the new Ducati Scrambler Icon got a good makeover over what it used to be earlier. The aluminium side panel is now bigger and perfectly complements the “teardrop-shaped” fuel tank and rounded headlamp. Speaking of which, the headlamp now comes with DRLs integrated on the side rims. This design is taken from the elder sibling, the 2018 Scrambler 1100.

This new 2019 Scrambler Icon has a pretty good number of tech included in its list. If new LED indicators aren’t enough, they come with automatic turn-off capability. The switchgear is now more modern and makes it very convenient for the riders to navigate the LCD instrument cluster.

On the ergonomics front too, this new Scrambler Icon is more than just an update. It has a flatter and more comfortable seats along with wide handlebars. This encourages a more relaxed riding position. Even the suspension setup is tweaked for additional comfort. The bike is designed to have a low centre of gravity and kerb weight, which makes handling a boon for the riders. It rides on 18-inch and 17-inch front and rear wheels respectively that get the Pirelli MT 60 RS tyres.

The bike is powered by an L-Twin, 803 cc motor that can produce a great power of 73 PS at 8,250 rpm along with a peak torque of 67 Nm at 5,750 rpm. The produced power is sent down to the wheel via a six-speed transmission unit. The engine now features black cylinder heads and redesigned aluminium fins which is good for a smooth acceleration.

The 2019 Scrambler Icon is suspended over 41 mm upside-down forks at the front and rear shock made by Kayaba. The 330 mm front disc has a four-piston calliper while the 245 mm rear unit is single piston type. However, both get Cornering ABS sourced from Bosch.
