Ducati Panigale V4 R life-size model made from Legos revealed
KUALA LUMPUR: A couple of months ago, the scaled model of the Panigale V4 R was unveiled by Ducati in collaboration with Danish toymaker, Lego. The first-ever brick reproduction of a Ducati motorcycle showed the highest possible realism with a working gearbox which allows builders to simulate different speeds and riding techniques.
But that's, of course, a kid's toy, or a set of 646 individual pieces which you couldn't ride. Now, the companies brought its 1:1 size replica to promote the release of LEGO® Technic™ Ducati Panigale V4 R. Built by Lego artist Riccardo Zangelmi, superbike's life-size model is based on a real Panigale V4 R, but its entire fairing, winglets and scoops included, has been crafted from Legos.
Zangelmi used a total of 15,000 LEGO Technic pieces in the Panigale's construction, while he and his team took 400 hours to assemble the model. No computer software was used to come up with the design, and even they didn't use glue for the bricks and anchorages. Perhaps the most exciting fact is that the Lego Panigale V4 R 1:1 tips the scales at 180 kg, i.e., 8 kg heavier than the stock bike.
But unfortunately, you cannot drive this fantastic creation, because the heat from the 998cc V4 engine could melt every single brick, which would spoil the whole build.
Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali and its MotoGP star rider, Andrea Dovizioso, give it a grand unveiling at Modena, Italy.
"Almost everyone at some point in their lives has played with LEGO bricks at least once, but seeing up close a replica of the Panigale V4 is something incredible and at a very high level. I would like to congratulate the LEGO artist Riccardo Zangelmi for building such a true to life and a detailed version of the motorcycle. I'm sure children and adults alike will be captivated by this incredible model." said Andrea Dovizioso of the Ducati MotoGP Team.
Coming back to the original Lego Technic Ducati Panigale V4 R set, which is designed for fans aged 10+ and is available for sale in Europe at a price tag of €59.99 (RM 285).
