Ducati Malaysia launches the all-new Multistrada V4 and V4S

KUALA LUMPUR: Those of you who have been eagerly waiting for the launch of the sportier and more touring 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4, good news! The Italian automaker has finally launched the latest version of its go-anywhere bike in Malaysia. It is now available at all Ducati Malaysia showrooms in two versions -  base Multistrada V4 and Multistrada V4 S, priced at RM 135,900 and RM 146,900, respectively.

So, what does the new 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4 and V4S have on offer? Let’s discuss.

Both the V4 and V4S are equipped with a 1,158 cc Granturismo mill that churns out a maximum power output of 170 hp at 10,500 rpm and a peak torque of 125 Nm at 8,750 rpm. The ultra-compact engine uses a valve spring system instead of the iconic Desmodromic unit, which extends the requirement of costly valve clearance adjustment to 60,000 km.

On the transmission front, the new Multistrada V4 has a six-speed transmission sending power to the rear wheel. It has a short first gear that helps in easy maneuvering at low speeds along with an optimized sixth gear giving the pleasure of high-speed highway riding to the customers.

Moving to the chassis updates, the bike has a new aluminium monocoque frame, a steel tube subframe, and a revamped aluminium double-sided swingarm. This resulted in a few dimensional changes, including a shorter wheelbase of 1,567 mm. The lowered seat height now has two-position adjustability at 840 mm and 860 mm.

As for suspension, Ducati equipped the new V4 with fully-adjustable 50 mm forks at the front and an adjustable mono-shock at the rear. The top-spec V4S, on the other hand, comes with an electronic Skyhook suspension system. The braking system of the two bikes is also different; the former has 330 mm front brake discs with Brembo Stylema M50 callipers, while the latter gets a 320 mm unit with Brembo M4.32 callipers.

In terms of electronic aids, the base Multistrada V4 gets ABS cornering, wheelie control, traction control, and 4 riding modes (Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro), whereas the V4S is also equipped with quick Shift, vehicle hold control, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot detection.

Coming to the instrument panel, a 5-inch TFT display is available as standard, while the top-end model has a 6.5-inch unit mated to the Ducati Connect system. The V4S also comes with a full LED lighting system integrated with cornering lights, and daytime running lights.

Ducati offers the 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4S in two color options - Ducati Red or Aviator Grey, however, the V4 is available only in Ducati Red.
