Ducati achieves best sales ever in 2021

While 2021 was a year to forget for a majority of the human population across the world, it was a year to remember for some, like Ducati.

Having sold a grand total of 59,447 motorcycles around the world in 2021, the Italian bike manufacturer achieved an increase in sales by 24 percent over the 48,042 bikes sold in 2020. The number is also 12 percent higher than the 53,183 units sold in 2019.

In terms of revenue, the 59,447 units sold equals 878 million euros which is over 30 percent more than the 676 million euros which was achieved in 2020. In 2019, the brand made 716 million euros.

As for the operating profit, Ducati made 61 million euros in 2021 which is an impressive 154 percent jump compared to 2020 in which the company only made 24 million euros.

The fact that Ducati achieved all of the above in the midst of the global pandemic and other issues revolving around it such as the shortage of chips makes it even more impressive.

In an effort to further strengthen the brand’s presence on a global scale, Ducati opened a total of 84 new outlets in various key locations around the world, bringing the accumulative number of Ducati dealerships worldwide to 790 outlets in 90 countries.

Thanks to the expansion, the number of Ducati’s employees surpassed 1,900 personnel for the first time in the company’s history. In fact, Ducati’s working conditions, environment, facilities, business model, and methodologies earned the company the “Top Employer Italy” accolade for the eighth time in a row.

Sales aside, another reason why 2021 was a great year for Ducati was due to the success in MotoGP World Championship in which the company won its second Constructors’ World Title in a row. With the 2022 season already under way after the first round in Qatar two weeks ago, Ducati aims to carry the momentum this year as well.

In addition to MotoGP, Ducati will also be taking part in the 2022 World Superbike Championship which is all set to begin in April, and that is not all.

Towards the end of 2021, Ducati also announced that its electric era has officially begun as it has become the sole supplier of bikes for the electric class of MotoGP electric class called the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup.

Motorsports aside, Ducati was also very busy developing new motorcycles for the world in 2021. One of the biggest highlights of the year was the unveiling of the new Ducati DesertX which makes its entry into the mid-range endure bike segment.

Another new model which put a big smile on enthusiasts and fans around the world was the new Ducati Panigale V4, which is dubbed as the closest thing ever to a Ducati MotoGP machine.

Among all the bikes Ducati sold globally, the biggest chunk of profit came from the Multistrada V4 and V4S which were instant hits after they were unveiled.
