Check out the 2021 BMW Motorrad S1000R
KUALA LUMPUR: Finally, BMW has introduced the much-awaited 2021 Motorrad S1000R, showcasing a brand new frame and bodywork. In addition to its rugged styling, it borrows technology from the S1000RR superbike. The package sounds promising, isn't it?
Weighing at just 199 kg (base model), BMW claims the new S1000R to be the lightest naked sports bike in the segment. Adding the optional dynamic and comfort package adds 3 kg to the bike. Further, the optional M package calls for additional weight reduction (4.8kg) by using carbon fibre hoops (3.7kg) or forged wheels (2 kg).
Powering the new Motorrad S1000R is the S1000RR power plant that is slightly detuned to churn out a maximum power of 165 hp at 11,000 rpm and a peak torque of 115 Nm at 9.250 rpm. The power is sent to the ground via a six-speed gearbox wherein the top three gears are taller resulting in lower noise and fuel consumption.
Besides the gearbox comes with an anti-hopping clutch and an optional engine drag torque control which electronically limits the rear wheel from slipping from abrupt downshifting or throttling. Also part of the deal is Shift Assistant Pro, aka, quick shift.
Key highlights of the 2021 BMW Motorrad are -
- A 6.5-inch TFT LCD display
- LED lighting allover
- Optional Headlight Pro module (adaptive turning & DLDS)
- Adjustable handlebar clamps
- Optional 10 mm height adjustment
BMW is also offering an array of customisation options to its customers, in form of several packages like M, Milled, and Carbon.
