Aprilia SX125 & RX125 updated for the model year 2021
KUALA LUMPUR: Aprilia has updated the SX125 and RX125 for this year's riding season. The duo looks great and is now tuned with tech that'll take them through the rough terrains easily. Let's now see what is all on offer, starting with the powertrain step.
Both the Aprilia SX125 and RX125 are powered by the same mill, i.e., a 124.2 cc, single-cylinder, DOHC, four-valve, liquid-cooled unit. The important thing to note here is that the engine is now Euro 5 compliant. Coming to the performance front, this engine makes a maximum power of 14.75 hp at 10,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 11.2 Nm at 8,000 rpm. The power produced in the now Euro 4 compliant engine is sent to the ground through a 6-speed transmission and chain final drive.
The Aprilia SX125 is a motard-style street machine that is targeted at young buyers. It runs on 17-inch wheels wrapped in 100/80 and 130/70 tyres at front and rear. The braking duties here are taken care of by 330 mm disc and 220 mm disc at the front and rear, respectively.
The Aprilia RX125, on the other hand, rides in 21-inch front (90/90) and 18-inch (120/80) rear wheels. For braking is present 260 mm disc and 220 mm disc brake at front and rear.
The suspension can't be overlooked, as it ensures a smooth and comfortable ride. At the front is non-adjustable, 41 mm diameter upside-down forks giving 240 mm of travel, and the rear gets a preload-adjustable monoshock with 210 mm of travel.
Both the Aprilia 125 variants - SX125 and RX125 weigh the same, i.e., 124 kg, and even have the same 7-litre fuel tank. The seat height specs read 880 mm for SX125 and 905mm for RX125.
