2023 Yamaha XMax gets a significant overhaul in Europe
KUALA LUMPUR: First unveiled in 2006, the Yamaha XMax is one of the best-selling maxi scooters in the world with more than 450k units sold in almost one and half decades. Now for 2023, the Japanese automaker gave this popular model a major overhaul to keep up its dominance in the maxi-scooter segment.

In Europe, Yamaha offers the 2023 XMax in Standard and Tech Max variants with two displacement classes - 125 and 300.The all-new 2023 Yamaha XMax benefits from cosmetic tweaks, an upgraded instrument console and improved riding comfort.
The upgraded XMax sports a bold appearance with a new aggressive ‘X’ shaped nose incorporating a sharp LED lighting arrangement. The rear also boasts a similar ‘X’ theme with an ‘X’ shape visual on the LED tail light. Yamaha has also reshaped the scooter’s seat for providing easier reach to the ground at stops.
Offered in two variants in Europe - Standard and Tech Max, the new XMax is loaded with advanced connectivity features. With the top-spec Tech Max, one gets a 4.2-inch TFT display up front, along with smartphone connectivity and Garmin StreetCross app compatibility, a 3.2-inch LCD speedometer (apart from the above-mentioned display), and a new leather-type seat cover with contrasting stitching.
With the standard trim comes with a 4.3-inch LCD display with smartphone connectivity support along with a new Communication Control Unit.
Yamaha offers the new XMax Tech Max in two colorways, including Dark Petrol and Tech Black, while the standard version comes in Icon Blue or Sonic Grey.
At the core of the new Euro-spec Yamaha XMax lies either a 292-cc single-cylinder engine or a 125-cc single-cylinder mill. The former churns out a maximum power of 27.6 hp at 7,250 rpm and a peak torque of 29 Nm at 5,750 rpm while the latter is good for making 12 hp and 11.2 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via a continuously variable transmission.
The suspension setup remains identical with telescopic forks at the front and dual shocks at the rear. Managing the braking duties are disc brakes on both the ends along with anti-brake locking system and traction control.
The availability and pricing details of the all-new Yamaha XMax are yet to be revealed.
