2023 KTM 890 Adventure R arrives with rally-inspired upgrades

KUALA LUMPUR: KTM’s off-road beast, the 890 Adventure R, is well known for its excellent touring capabilities and daring adventures in the rough. Well, this ADV has just gone harder with a whole lot of hardware and software updates, recently introduced in the US. These include rally-inspired mods aimed to boost the bike’s dirt prowess and versatility. 

To begin with, the 2023 KTM 890 Adventure R gets a rally-inspired bodywork featuring a new fairing, fuel tank, and cowling offering better aerodynamics and ergonomics along with enhancing safety from the elements.

Further making the bike ready for action is the new windshield, high front fender, and engine guard to handle tricky technical terrains. Also, parts of the kit are new Mitas ENDURO TRAIL+ tyres added for extra wear resistance.

The latest 890 ADVENTURE R also benefits from the WP suspension package inspired by the KTM 450 RALLY setup. It comprises fully adjustable WP XPLOR forks at the front and a WP XPLOR PDS shock at the rear. These are tuned to a way that ensures riders reach the end of each level with reduced fatigue, says KTM.

On the braking front lies the next-gen ABS control unit with a new modulator (9.3 MP), taking the hardware and software potential of the electronics pack to a new level. To try it on the rough terrains, riders can count on OFFROAD ABS linked with OFF ROAD MODE and an optional RALLY MODE.

Also new for the 2023 model year is a DEMO MODE. With this mode, the riders can experience all the specifications and options for the first 1500 km of run, and then they can decide which pack to have.

KTM has also updated the model with a new 5-inch TFT display equipped with a USB connection, new pictograms, and intuitive graphics allowing easy navigation through the available options. 

Other significant modifications include - 

• Updated turn-by-turn plus navigation system 
• Handlebar switch with hazard warning 
• LED indicators
• READY TO RACE colours with orange, white, and blue graphics

Powering the 2023 KTM 890 Adventure R is the ongoing 889-cc parallel-twin engine which cranks out a maximum power of 105 hp at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 100 Nm at 6,500 rpm.
