Engine
Powering the new Panigale V4 R is Bologna’s 998 cc Desmosedici Stradale R powerplant generating 218 hp at 15,500 rpm on paper. Ducati, however, hiked the maximum revs to 16,500 rpm at 6th gear. Also, by fitting a new racing exhaust which when combined with Shell-developed fuel, the bike can hit a peak power of 240.5 hp.
New connecting rods & pistons
Ducati has used gun-drilled titanium connecting rods and DLC-coated pistons - a first for a road motorcycle and until now was limited to Formula 1 race cars and MotoGP machines.
This new addition is responsible for the hiked power.
New engine modes
The motorcycle benefits from two new engine modes, Full & Low added to the existing package. While the former unleashes the full power, the latter reduces the power to 160 hp.
Revised Quick Shift System
The Ducati Quick Shift System has been revised for the 2023 Panigale V4 R which calls for a smoother shift during full and partial throttle.
Braking & Handling
The new Ducati uses the same old tried and tested Ohlins suspension, the travel is increased by 5 mm in the NPX 25/30 pressurized forks.
Larger fuel tank
The 2023 Panigale V4 R showcases a bigger 17-litre fuel tank, which means fewer refuelling stoppages.
Improved agility
The motorcycle offers better agility thanks to a higher swingarm pivot position that increases the rear height by 20 mm.
That’s all on the 2023 Ducati Panigale V4 R which is a numbered model with each motorcycle getting a plaque on the steering head.
