Malaysia gets the updated Yamaha XMAX 250

KUALA LUMPUR: The light and agile automatic scooter, Yamaha XMAX 250 received a few updates in the local market, including a couple of cosmetic tweaks, and new striking colour choices. The engine powering this Yamaha scooter is also Euro 4 compliant now.

Speaking about the new hues first, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor offers the 2022 Yamaha XMAX 250 in two shades - Icon Grey and Power Grey.

At the core lies the Euro 4 compliant 250-cc liquid-cooled, single-cyl mill which pumps out the maximum power output of 22.5 hp at 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 24.3 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheel via an automatic gearbox and V-belt drive, enabling the scooter to clock the top speed of 140 kmph. The fuel consumption of the two-wheeler is rated around 30 kmpl.

Yamaha also redesigned the smart key fob of the 2022 XMAX 250 along with upgrading the turn signals with the smoked lenses.

Besides these updates, the 2022 Yamaha XMAX 250 continues to feature full LED lighting with DRL, LED tail lights, adjustable windshield and handlebar, 12V power outlet, and extra-large under-seat storage with an internal LED light that can accommodate two full-face helmets and more.

Also part of the mix is a smart key system that turns the power on or off and unlocks the handlebar and seat without taking the key out. There is also a remote button for locking with an answer-back function to find your scooter in the parking areas.

The rider gets all the required information through a full LCD instrument panel that features a clear and easy-to-read display with a black background and white numerals.

Helping the bike stop are disc brakes (267 mm front and 245 mm rear), dual-channel ABS, and traction control. The suspension duties are taken care of by a telescopic front fork and a rear mono-shock. The scooter stands at the 15-inch front and 14-inch rear wheels.

The updated Yamaha XMAX 250 is priced at RM 21,998 (on-the-road without insurance). It is now available at all authorised Hong Leong Yamaha dealers nationwide.
