2022 Triumph Trident 660 recalled in America

KUALA LUMPUR: It was only recently that Honda America recalled the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP over the exhaust getting overheated and now we hear Triumph is joining the club with its 2022 Trident 660. Unlike Honda recall, the issue with the Triumph motorcycle lies with its side stand.

What’s the problem?

Well, certain units of the 2022 Trident 660 are getting recalled in the US over potentially faulty side stands. According to the company, the stand of the affected units might bend over time causing the motorcycle to stumble and tip over.

The company indicates the whole process of the side stand bending and the bike leaning further than usual and then finally falling will be a gradual one.

It has come to light that a third-party supplier responsible for the side stand has used an incorrect material that failed to meet the company’s specifications.

Total number of affected units?

Triumph America is recalling a total of 314 units of the Trident 660, all manufactured between 7th Feb 2021 - 15th May 2021.

Solution?

Triumph will replace the affected side stand with a new one. Also, moving forward the company has shifted to a robust side stand which is believed to be perfect, without any defect.
