2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000 launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Along with the new Suzuki Burgman 400 luxury scooter, the Japanese automaker also launched the new 2022 GSX-S1000 streetfighter in Malaysia. The refreshed bike is priced at RM 76,900 (excluding road tax, insurance, and registration). Included in the price is a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty.

In terms of design, the new GSX-S1000 is sharper and more aggressive thanks to the razor-sharped styling and minimalist cowling with sharp lines. On the front, there is a new vertically stacked LED headlight assembly with hexagonal shape headlights topped by a single LED position light. Complementing the stylish svelte tail section of the bike is a flat rear combination light.

The new Suzuki GSX-S1000 comes with a full LCD instrument panel that displays all required information on the LCD screen in a clean and intuitive way.

Powering the Suzuki’s naked motorcycle is a 999-cc liquid-cooled inline-four Euro-5 compliant engine that pumps out a maximum power output of 150 hp at 11,000 rpm and a peak torque of 106 Nm at 9,250 rpm. The mill gets new intakes, valve springs, camshafts, a new airbox, and more. The power is sent to the ground via a six-speed transmission paired with Suzuki’s Clutch Assist System.

Adding to the bike intelligent ride system are Suzuki Drive Mode Selector, Suzuki Traction Control System, Ride-by-wire Electronic Throttle System, Bi-directional quick-shift system, Suzuki Easy start system, and low rpm assist.

As for agility and stability, the bike gets a chassis engineered for delivering better handling and control. The performance-tuned KYB suspension system comprises a fully-adjustable 43 mm upside-down fork at the front and monoshock with adjustable rebound damping and spring preload at the rear. 

The braking duties are taken care of by 310 mm floating discs with radial-mounted Brembo four-piston Monobloc calipers at the front and a single two-piston caliper at the rear.
