KUALA LUMPUR: The iconic Belgian Spa Circuit of Europe turns 100 years old this year, and to commemorate the occasion, Honda released a track-only limited edition CBR1000RR-R Spa 100 bike. The 100th Anniversary Edition is based on the ongoing Fireblade and is built by DG Sport. It may look identical to the standard CBR1000RR-R, but the Belgian organization gave it massive upgrades to turn it into a track weapon.

First of all, the 2022 Honda CBR1000RR-R Spa 100th Anniversary Edition has no road-legal mirrors, lights, indicators, and a number plate holder. The Showa Big Piston Fork suspension system of the bike is positioned with Öhlins cartridges into the 43 mm fork at the front and an Öhlins TTX at the rear. Also part of the kit is an Öhlins steering damper.
DG Sport also removed the ABS of the standard bike and fitted Brembo Corsacorta master cylinder, and steel-braided brake lines to take care of braking duties.
For a more aggressive riding position, Mario Kupper, the famous race bike specialist outfitted the bike with adjustable rear sets and new clip-ons. The racing bike also gets a new hand brake guard.
At its core lies the 998-cc inline-four liquid-cooled engine that generates a maximum power output of 215 hp. It also received huge upgrades from Kupper. These comprise a new HRC engine management system and a full exhaust system from Arrow. Included in the kit are sticky Dunlop slick hoops for track and GBRacing engine protectors.
While there is no information on the 2022 Honda CBR1000RR-R Spa 100th Anniversary Edition price tag, it is supposed to be heftier than its road-going cousin, which retails for $28,500 (approximately equal to RM 119,205).
