2021 Yamaha Aerox/NVX 155 VVA Connected revealed in Indonesia
KUALA LUMPUR: Yamaha launched the NVX automatic scooter three years ago in Malaysia as a comfortable and sporty option for bike riders. The same scooter is available in the Indonesian market with the name Aerox 155, which has just received an update. Yamaha Indonesia recently previewed the all-new 2021 Yamaha Aerox 155 Connected on its Youtube channel revealing all the updates available in the upcoming version.
In terms of design, the new Yamaha Aerox has a characteristic ‘X’ shape design that emphasizes the crossover concept lying between Super Sports bikes and Scooters. It features attractive fairings and looks more sporty with an LED headlight cluster, and a fully digital speedometer. The side-mounted exhaust and LED taillight complement the bike’s overall look.
Yamaha Aerox comes with a number of convenient features that make a world of a difference. These include keyless start, engine start-stop, hazard lights, and a 25-litre storage area under the seat, which riders can access through a remote locking button.
Talking about connectivity, the bike can be connected to the rider’s smartphone via a Bluetooth connection. Then with the help of the Y-Connect app, the rider can monitor the condition of the battery and engine oil, check out the last parking location, fuel consumption, and can also find out the current ranking position in terms of mileage and eco-riding as compared to other users.
Powering the 2021 Aerox/NVX is a liquid-cooled, 155-cc DOHC, single-cylinder engine that churns out 15.15 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 13.9 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine carries Yamaha’s Blue Core technology that enhances its performance, and VVA (variable valve actuation), which ensures an adequate amount of power throughout the rev band. Coupled with an automatic gearbox, it uses a V-belt from the transmission to the rear wheel.
Suspension-wise, the new Yamaha Aerox/NVX gets a telescopic fork unit at the front, while at the rear, there are twin remote reservoir shock absorbers. The bike rides on wide 110/80-14 front and 140/70-14 rear tubeless tyres and for braking it equips a hydraulic disc brake at the front and a mechanical drum brake on the rear wheel, along with an anti-lock braking system.
While Yamaha has not yet announced the price of the new Aerox 155 Connected, the ongoing NVX 155 retails at RM10,088 in the local market.
