2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: KTM introduced the sportier and more technologically advanced version of the 1290 Super Adventure S back in January, which has now entered the local market. The 2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S price in Malaysia starts at RM 132,800 (without taxes and insurance). Let’s know what the bikemaker offers with the new iteration?

Talking about the chassis and ergonomics first, the new 1290 Super Adventure S is based on the new chassis featuring a new and shorter frame. It has been optimised for better weight distribution and agility. A new subframe and longer swingarm are also added to the mix for better stability. Also, the seat is positioned lower now and the bodywork is optimised to make sure it does not hinder smooth riding.

In terms of electronic aids, the new KTM 1290 Super Adventure S gets a number of updates. These include: 

• Traction control with two different controllers for wheel slip and a pitch angle
• Bosch Motorcycle Stability Control with cornering ABS and off-road ABS systems
• Motor Slip Regulation
• Six-axis inertial measurement unit developed in association with Bosch
• Adaptive Cruise Control with Bosch’s latest radar technology
• WP semi-active suspension

The bike also benefits from a new 7-inch TFT-LCD instrument panel with a revised interface and smartphone connectivity and new switchgear. Also, parts of the kit are keyless ignition, a USB charging point, and a waterproof phone storage compartment.

Powering the 2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S is a revised 1,301-cc LC8 V-twin engine that now churns out a maximum power output of 160 hp at 9,000 rpm and a peak torque of 138 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Included in the engine updates are new oil circuits, new cases, new pistons, a better cooling system, revamped exhaust unit, a PANKL gear system, and Quickshifter+.

The 2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S is now available at all KTM official dealers in the country.
