2021 Honda CB1000R teased ahead of debut
KUALA LUMPUR: Honda introduced its Neo-Sports Cafe lineup three years ago with the CB1000R, which is now ready for a refresh. The Japanese maker recently teased the next-generation CB1000R through a video that reveals a brief glimpse of the upcoming model along with the official debut date.
A couple of changes decrypted from the video teaser include a redesigned headlight. Although it retains the same signature horseshoe style, it has been tweaked a bit for a sharper look. Another change can be observed in the front Honda badging that splits the headlight, it now appears a bit smaller than before. The whole headlight assembly now seems more angled and features a short flyscreen. It was earlier available on the ‘Plus’ model only, but now likely to be a standard element.
A closer look also revealed that the bike’s triple clamp and fork clamp are now finished in black instead of silver. The side panels that sit right below the fuel tank and cover the injectors also received a new design. The side view of the upcoming CB1000R also boasts restyled W-spoke wheels that replace the conventional Y-spoke styling.
Coming to the technical specifications, the 2021 Honda CB1000R is likely to get the power from the ongoing Euro 5-compliant 999-cc, liquid-cooled, four-cylinder engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox that generates a maximum power of 145.48 PS at 10,500 rpm and a peak torque of 104 Nm at 8250 rpm. Honda might increase the output figures for the 2021 model.
As for safety, the new version is expected to equip disc brakes on the front as well as rear wheel along with a dual-channel anti-lock braking system for improved handling on the roads. The suspension duties will be handled by fully-adjustable inverted forks on the front and a mono-shock unit at the back.
Honda is all set to officially reveal the new Honda CB1000R on November 10.
