2019 Malaysia Autoshow: Honda launches all-new CB650R and CBR650R
KUALA LUMPUR: Honda Malaysia has launched the 2019 CB650R and 2019 CBR650R at the ongoing Malaysia Autoshow 2019, which is being organised at the MAEPS in Seri Kembangan and will continue till April 14.
Both motorcycles share a lot of common features. They have a similar powertrain option, i.e., a 649 cc inline four-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC. The engine is capable of churning out a maximum power of 93.8 hp, which comes at 12,000 rpm, while the peak torque is 64 Nm coming at 8,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox, which is further assisted by a slipper clutch with chain final drive.
The suspension duties are done by a Showa separate function upside-down fork (SFF) at the front and a monoshock with 10-position preload adjustment, which is attached to a cast aluminium swingarm at the rear. The front unit is 6 kg lighter than the earlier version.
The radial-mount Nissin callipers along with the 310 mm discs having only a single calliper are present at the front, while there is a 240 mm brake disc at the rear. Both are further assisted by two-channel ABS. Moreover, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) is also present, which is the manufacturer’s own version of traction control. The 15.4-litre fuel tank, all-new LCD instrument display having LED lighting at the front as well as the rear are some other notable common equipment.
The major differences lie in styling. The 2019 CBR650R is the newest addition of Honda in the fully-faired sports bike segment, while the CB650R features the brand’s own Neo Sports Cafe naked sports design. The former weighs around 207 kg, while the later has a weight of 202 kg.
The 2019 Honda CBR650R is available in two color options including Matte Gun Powder Black Metallic and Grand Prix Red. On the other hand, the CB650R comes with Graphite Black and Candy Chromosphere Red paint options.
The 2019 Honda CB650R and 2019 Honda CBR650R are priced at RM 43,499 and RM 45,499, respectively. While the insurance, registration and road tax are not included in these price tags. It is expected that deliveries of these bikes will start soon.
