Five things that make the Ducati Multistrada V4S so desirable
2021 was a very good year for Ducati as the company recorded its best ever financial year in history, having sold around 60,000 bikes worldwide.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
How much is the Ducati Multistrada V4S?
The Ducati Multistrada V4S is priced at RM146,900Out of the lot, the model which sold the most globally was none other than the new Ducati Multistrada V4S which was also launched in Malaysia last September.
Priced at RM146,900 here just to put things into perspective, the Multistrada V4S is anything but cheap. In fact, it is among the more expensive model in the 1,200cc adventure bike segment which means that it won’t be cheap no matter where you purchase it in the world.
Still, it did so well and outsold the other Ducati models that ask for much lesser. So, what exactly is it about the new Multistrada that makes it so desirable?
After spending a couple of days with it recently, we couldn’t help it but wish that we could have one parked at home as it turned out to be a bike that can do it all.
It looks good
The folks at Ducati’s design studio have done a brilliant job in making it look sexy enough to appeal to buyers of all gender and age groups.
Looking sharper than before with LED lights all around, nicely hidden LED turn signals, the right balance between body colour, carbon fibre bits, and black trims, the new Multistrada looks good from every angle you look at it.
The new V4 engine
At the heart of the new Multistrada V4S is Ducati’s new lightweight 1,158 cc V4 Granturismo engine kicking out 170 hp and 125 Nm of torque.
Unlike the previous engines, the new mill only requires an oil change once every 15,000 km, while the valve adjustment only needs to be done once every 60,000 km.
This means that the trip to the service centre happens lesser for owners of the V4 compared to owners of the previous-gen models.
Just to give you an idea on how light the Multistrada V4S is, the bike weighs 215 kg which is exactly the same as the Suzuki GSX-S750 naked bike. The performance of the new engine is also top notch.
Power delivery is much seamless now, bringing the bike to speeds of well over 200 km/h in no time in Sports Mode.
Many world’s firsts
For the first time in the history, a motorcycle has been fitted with front and rear radars to ensure that the bike detects everything that is going on around the rider at all times.
Thanks to the radars, we have features like Adaptive Cruise Control and even Blind Spot Alert, which are only found in cars until now.
Thanks to these rider assistance technologies, riding the Multistrada feels so much safer and more relaxing than most bikes out there in the market.
Loaded with technology
While the new Ducati Multistrada V4S may look simple on the surface, the amount of technology and electronic wizardry that has gone into the bike is nothing short of mind-blowing.
Among the systems that work all the time to ensure that the rider is kept safe and confident include Cornering ABS, Cornering Traction Control, Wheelie Control, four riding modes, a Skyhook electronic suspension system, cornering lights, a 6.5-inch TFT HD full colour display, Bluetooth connectivity, Ducati Multimedia System, Ducati Connect with GPS, and keyless ignition.
The best part is that most of these gizmos work by themselves behind the scenes, meaning that there is very little to fiddle with and get confused about.
Convenience
Capable of performing well both on tarmac and off the beaten track, the Multistrada V4S is also a fantastic bike to be ridden daily as it has all the necessary convenience features like a slot to keep your mobile device, a USB charger, Wi-Fi connectivity, and a large 22-litre fuel tank.
The long list of features and technologies that have gone into the Multistrada V4S may sound overwhelming but it is mighty impressive all of them work together to provide a very safe yet enjoyable riding experience.
Besides the hefty price tag and the size of the bike that can be quite a handful for small-sized individuals, we have absolutely nothing to complain about the Multistrada V4S.
