Will Tiggo 5X Pro be a part of Chery Malaysia lineup?

Chery is among those automakers that are set to make a comeback in Malaysia this year. As per the sources close to the Chinese car brand, the Chery cars may hit the roads as soon as Q3 2022. 

Well, before getting the actual deal, we can enjoy the brand's online presence in the form of Chery Malaysia and the Omoda 5 fan page on social media. The latter confirms the soon arrival of the Chinese SUV in Malaysia. Apart from that, the automaker is likely to roll out some Tiggo Pro models, which might include the Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro.

Chery recently showcased a new Tiggo Pro model named Tiggo 5X Pro in the Philippines, which raised our eyebrows. So, what does the new 5X Pro have on offer, and will it come to Malaysia or not? Let's find out the answers to these questions.

What does the new 5X Pro have on offer? 

Rival to the SUVs like the Proton X50 and Honda HR-V, the Chery Tiggo 5X Pro is a facelifted version of the Tiggo 5. The significant upgrades on the exterior are - 

• A fresh new face with a revamped diamond-shaped cascading grille and front bumper
• Revised fog lights housing
• A new skid plate on the front
• Revised rear bumper and lower diffuser
• A new pair of wheels  that completes the fresh look

Dimensionally, the SUV measures 4358 mm in length, 1830 mm in width, 1670 mm in height, and spans a wheelbase of 2630 mm.

Hop inside the new Chery, and you will be greeted by a modern dashboard housing a 7.0-inch instrument panel and a 10.25-inch infotainment unit. An advanced touch-panel climate control, new shift-by-wire gear shift, and wireless charging pad are among the other newly added bits. On top of that, Chery also revised the cabin's central console with a matte aluminium finish.

Under the hood, the new Tiggo 5X Pro carries the same engine setup available on the standard 5X. That's a Euro-5 compliant 1.5-litre variable valve timing naturally-aspirated engine churning out a maximum power output of 114 hp at 6150 rpm along with a peak torque of 141 Nm at 3800 rpm. The power is sent to the wheels via a continuously variable transmission.

Safety-wise, the Chery Tiggo 5X Pro is equipped with the following features -

Will Chery launch the Tiggo 5X Pro in Malaysia?

Chery SEA confirms the arrival of four models across the region, including the Tiggo 8 Pro, Tiggo 7 Pro, Omoda 5, and the fully-electric EQ1. And, there is no official information on the Tiggo 5X Pro launch in any other ASEAN country except the Philippines. So, it is still not confirmed if the Tiggo 5X Pro will be a part of the Chery Malaysia lineup or not.
