- Travel Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control which uses radar and other sensors to detect vehicles running ahead
- Side Assist which works as an active blind spot monitor
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert which gets activated when the reverse gear is engaged and warns drivers of potential danger
- Front Assist (Autonomous Emergency Braking) that uses a radar sensor to continuously monitor the distance to the vehicles ahead along with detecting pedestrians and cyclists
- Lane Assist function that uses a camera to ensure the vehicle stays in the lane. The Adaptive Lane Guidance system can learn the driver’s driving characteristics and keep the car on an ideal line accordingly
Further, expanding the hatchback’s equipment kit are new front fog lights, electrically heated and adjustable folding mirrors, an additional centre airbag (total 7 airbags now), new wireless charging pad, and new ‘GTI’ embroidery on the front seats.
Powering the updated Volkswagen Golf GTI is the same 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four engine found on the pre-updated model. The said powertrain kicks out a maximum power of 245 PS between 5,000 rpm and 6,200 rpm and a peak torque of 370 Nm between 1,600 rpm and 4,300 rpm. Sending power to the front wheels is a seven-speed DSG (wet) dual-clutch transmission.
