Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace Highline vs Tiguan Allspace R-Line: Which one should you buy?

Volkswagen Malaysia has many bright and popular gems in its portfolio and one of them is the Tiguan Allspace that gives us many reasons to fall in love with it. Built on the success of the 5-seater Tiguan, the seven-seater SUV is available in two variants - Tiguan Allspace Highline 1.4TSI and the Tiguan Allspace R-Line 2.0TSI. Both are locally assembled at the brand’s Pekan, Pahang plant.

Dimensionally, both variants measure the same with 4,701 mm length, 1839 mm width, 1674 mm height, and 2,787 mm wheelbase. However, the design features of the two models are different. The standard kit of the base Highline includes LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED tail lights, front and rear fog lights, chrome roof rails, and 18-inch Kingston alloy wheels. On the contrary, the R-Line trim comes with a sporty package, which includes

The different Tiguan Allspace variants are powered by different mills, the entry-level Highline is powered by a 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine, borrowed from the 5-seater Tiguan, whereas the R-Line performance SUV is equipped with a more powerful 2.0-litre TSI turbo mill. It is to be noted here, the Tiguan Allspace R-Line mechanical setup boasts a 4Motion AWD system alongside the potent engine. The AWD system is borrowed from the Golf R. Further aiding the SUV’s power delivery is the Dynamic Chassis Control with four driving modes (Comfort, Normal, Individual, and Off-Road) and 15 driving style preferences. The entire setup puts the R-Line on the top of the performance SUVs list in its class. 

Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace Safety

Both trims of the Tiguan Allspace SUV are loaded with several advanced safety features, including six airbags. anti-lock braking system with brake assist, automatic post collision brake system, rest assist (driver alert system), electronic stability control, reverse camera, park distance control sensors (front, and rear), and an intelligent crash response system. However, the top-spec R-Line safety net also has a hill descent control on the list.

In the end, we conclude that the two models come with a stylish exterior, a well-equipped creature comfort cabin, plenty of power, and a strong safety net. But if the aggressive styling, more power, and hi-tech connectivity are the things you are looking for, then you should buy the Tiguan Allspace R-Line.
