UMW reveals limited-edition Toyota Hilux 2.4G

The market for pickup trucks in Malaysia has become more competitive in recent years. Manufacturers offer pickup trucks with passenger car-like comfort, incredible fuel efficiency, turbodiesels with variable geometry turbochargers and enormous torque figures for pulling power.

UMW Toyota has recently revealed a limited-edition Toyota Hilux 2.4G AT with a tougher and more rugged appearance. This unveil comes less than a year after the launch of the latest generation Hilux in May last year.

The current generation Hilux is powered by 2.4-litre and 2.8-litre diesel engines that can be paired with either a six-speed manual gearbox or an electronically-managed automatic transmission. However, this particular limited-edition Hilux is unique to the 2.4-litre AT only.

The Hilux 2.4G Limited Edition will get you an array of Toyota Genuine Accessories. There are very few chrome parts in this limited-edition Hilux. We believe that the LE Hilux is only available in white, so the black bits offer a nice contrast to the body colour. There’s a black front grille, headlight covers, tail light covers, fog light covers, together with black hood stripes and a full roof sticker. The LE also gets a ‘Limited’ emblem on its tailgate.

As for the wheels, it is now in dark grey, under the grey over-fenders and this elevates the ruggedness of the truck. There is no mention about the changes to the interiors. The 2.4-litre engine on the LE makes 150 hp at 3,400 rpm and 400 Nm of torque from 1,600 to 2,000 rpm.

Similar to the other Hilux variants, the LE also comes with a 5-year/150,000 km warranty (whichever comes first) and is transferable to the next owner if it is still valid at the time the vehicle is sold.

The 2.4G Limited Edition Hilux is priced at RM126,000, a RM4,100 premium over the regular 2.4G AT. The truck will be available in Toyota showrooms nationwide from February 17, 2017.

Together with the introduction of the Hilux 2.4G AT Limited Edition, UMW Toyota has also announced another addition to its Hilux line up, the Hilux 2.4G STD with a lower starting price of RM108,500. The STD Hilux is available in manual and automatic variants.
