Let’s know this new Japanese MPV in detail with the help of images -
Exterior
The front fascia of the bold and sporty Veloz is dominated by a striking trapezoid-shaped grille with a glossy finish. It incorporates Y-patterned inserts and the brand’s logo.
On the sides of the front grille lies the angular full LED headlights with auto-levelling. The lighting units feature sequential turn signals and follow-me-home & leaving-home functions. These are also paired with LED daytime running lights.
At the rear of the new Toyota Veloz, you can find full LED rear combination lights, offering a bold and distinct look to the MPV.
The side profile looks neat with sharp creases and auto-retractable wing mirrors. The latter comes with a foot lamp, which enhances visibility as you approach the vehicle.
Another significant highlight of the side fascia is 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 205/50 R17 rubbers.
Interior
From inside, the new Veloz looks dynamic and the credit goes to soft trimmings and a bag full of creature comforts. Starting with driver-specific appointments, the car features a 7.0-inch coloured multi-information display letting the driver know all the required details about the vehicle.
Paired with the coloured driver’s display is a telescopic-tilt adjustable electronic power steering, which offers a tight turning radius and quiet operation with enhanced comfort.
Allowing the driver to smoothly shift the gears is a new 7-Speed continuously variable transmission. The pleasant shift feel of the leather-wrapped gear stick adds to an enjoyable driving experience.
In place of the conventional hand brake lever, the latest Toyota MPV is equipped with an electronic parking brake, which not only eases the operation during traffic jams but also adds to the safety with its auto brake hold feature.
As for the occupant’s infotainment needs, there is a 9.0-inch Display Audio system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto wireless connectivity.
The MPV consists of seven seats with multi-fold configurations, allowing passengers to adjust seats as per their requirements. The seats are wrapped in Black premium semi-leather upholstery.
Taking comfort and a premium feel to the next level is the LED ambient lighting available inside the cabin.
The modern MPV also offers the convenience of charging a smartphone wirelessly. For that, Toyota has positioned a wireless charging pad on the car’s central console, which is compatible with all Qi-enabled devices.
Along with this pad, the Veloz also offers multiple USB charging ports and 12V accessory outlets that let the occupants charge their devices on the go.
Storage
For storage, the MPV is equipped with several small and big storage areas, including 490-litre boot space (with third-row stored), luggage tray and deck box, multiple drink and bottle holders, and also roof rails for carrying extra cargo.
Safety
In terms of safety, Toyota offers several active safety systems in the form of the Toyota Safety Sense suite. Designed to help protect all passengers onboard, the ADAS pack comprises -
- Pre-Collision System: It warns the driver about potential frontal collisions and lessens the impact of collisions
- Lane Departure Warning: When an unintentional lane departure occurs, this system warns the driver and applies corrective steering if required
- Front Departure Alert: When the car in front has started to move, this safety system notifies the driver with visual as well as an audible warning
- Pedal Misoperation Control: It is designed to avoid/mitigate damage that may happen from a forward collision
- Adaptive Cruise Control: With the help of the stereo camera, it increases or decreases the vehicle speed to maintain a pre-set following distance
- Adaptive Driving Beam: It automatically controls the light distribution of the headlights, so they do not dazzle preceding and oncoming vehicles
Engine
The Veloz is powered by a 1,496-cc inline four-cylinder petrol VVT-i engine which cranks out 106 PS of maximum power at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of peak torque at 4,200 rpm. Sending power to the front wheels is a 7-speed CVT. The ride can be adjusted according to the preference with the help of three drive modes viz. Power, Eco, and Normal.
Colours
The 5 striking shades available on the Toyota Veloz colour palette are - Metallic Bluish Black, Red Metallic, White, Blue Metallic, and Silver Metallic.
