Toyota Sienta: Features explained

Toyota Sienta: Features explained
Contents

Toyota Malaysia launched the Sienta in Malaysia in August 2016 to give people a new option in the 7-seater MPV category. To give the Sienta an upper hand, Toyota went a bit overboard and carved out a modern-looking MPV. However, with the advancing world, the Sienta serves the purpose of delivering a bit of a modern element and sportiness in a single package. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it definitely is a good option for a large number of people looking to buy an affordable, good-looking, and feature-laden 7-seater MPV. Here are a few of the main features of the Toyota Sienta that might change your opinion about it.

Exterior features

Quirky styling

Toyota Sienta Front Angular

If you remove the Toyota badge from the Sienta, it would be difficult to say that it’s a Toyota car. The Sienta has a quirky style which is something that you don’t expect from a Toyota vehicle. Some people might find it good-looking while others might not. That’s why looks are always subjective. Both the front and the back of the Sienta features this unique black treatment that is one of the reasons which sets this car apart. Also, the design of the front grille isn’t something that we usually see. Coming to the side of the car, the front windscreen is at a very steep angle whereas the rear end gets immediately cut off. This means that towards the rear it’s a boxy design and towards the front, it’s more like a sloping design of a sedan. The 16-inch alloy wheels are stylish and do a good job of keeping up with the overall quirky appearance of the car.

Attractive headlamps & stylish taillights

Toyota Sienta Headlamps and Tallights

There are a number of features that you’d find interesting while going through the Toyota Sienta specs. However, one of the best of them all is the set of attractive headlamps. These are bi-LED units which not only provide perfect illumination in the dark but they also enhance the road presence of the car. And being LEDs, they consume way less power than the conventional halogens. To match the gorgeous LED headlamps, Toyota had to provide the MPV with matching taillights. These come in a two-piece combination set up with LED signature strip wrapping them around. They look distinctive and are clearly visible to the people behind.

Power sliding rear doors

Toyota Sienta Power Sliding Rear Doors

This is a cool feature of the Sienta which adds a bit of premium-ness. The rear doors are electronically operated. They can be opened by a slight pull of their inner or outer door handle or by a push of a button from the driver’s side panel. Getting in and out of the car is so much easier with these doors.

Interior features

Instrument cluster

Toyota Sienta Instrument Cluster

The instrument cluster is located a bit farther than its usual place. It is a bit weird but one would get used to it pretty quickly. The good thing about this location is that it’s easier to look at while driving, i.e., one wouldn’t need to take his eyes off from the road that much. Toyota has also provided a 4.2-inch HD colour TFT MID in the centre. It shows essential vehicle and driving information like fuel efficiency, driving range, average speed, among others.

Flexible seat configuration

Toyota Sienta Flexible Seat Configuration

It’s not a new feature to have folding seats in a 7-seater to increase the luggage carrying space. The Sienta has it too. However, the way the last row seats fold and hide is very clever. Yes, the process of doing so is a bit cumbersome but once it’s completed you get a sheer amount of boot space. When the rear-most seats get folded, the Sienta is like a 5-seater car.

Automatic AC with rear vents

The automatic AC works brilliantly in the Sienta. It helps the passengers to enjoy their ride in a cool environment, especially in the summers. Toyota has also provided rear AC vents for the comfort of the rear passengers. These vents can easily be accessed and controlled even by the people in the last row.

Roomier cabin

Toyota Sienta Roomier Cabin

The cabin of the Toyota Sienta is very spacious. The front seats are comfortable and have a good amount of space to move around. The middle row of seats is even better. The leg and headroom are phenomenal. And surprisingly, the seats in the last row aren’t bad either. Even adults can be seated with comfort but they would need to compromise on the legroom.

Entertainment system

Toyota Sienta Infotainment System

There’s a 7-inch touchscreen in the cabin to take care of your entertainment needs. It supports smartphone connectivity, WiFi, internet browser, voice recognition, HDMI, USB, Bluetooth, and navigation along with a reverse camera. That’s a lot of things packed in a single package.

Engine

Toyota Sienta Engine

Under the hood of the latest Toyota Sienta is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with Dual VVT-i. This engine has been used in other Toyota cars too. It is tuned to produce 107 PS of maximum power at 6000 rpm and generate 140 Nm of peak torque at 4200 rpm. It suits the Sienta’s overall character as well. However, there isn’t a manual gearbox available and you only get a CVT with 7-speed Sport Sequential Shiftmatic.

Safety features

Toyota Sienta Safety

Toyota has been generous here as well. The Sienta comes with a long list of safety features. It has Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control System (TRC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), 3 airbags, ISOFIX, etc.

These were some of the primary features of the Sienta. Toyota has done a commendable job in making it worth your money. Talking about money, the Toyota Sienta price is RM 101,900. There is only a single variant available so you don’t have to do a brainstorming session to select the model. There are 6 different colours to pick from - Silver Metallic, Grey Metallic, Attitude Black, Orange Metallic, Quartz Brown Metallic, and Super White II.
