Toyota Rush: Features explained

Toyota Rush: Features explained

Among the several names that pop out in the mind while thinking about the three-row SUVs available in the Malaysian market, the Toyota Rush is a credible option that appeals to many people who want all the practicality of an MPV. After making its debut in 2008, the model received the next-generation update in 2018 and has taken the market by quite a storm with its tough exterior, spacious interior, and reliable performance.

The Toyota Rush price in Malaysia starts at RM 88,314 (on-the-road including sales tax exemption and excluding insurance) and it is available in two variants - 1.5 G and 1.5 S. Here are some of its key features explained.

Front chrome grille

Undoubtedly, the Toyota Rush is a good-looking vehicle that has an aggressive and sporty front look featuring a glossy 4-piece grille in the middle, which houses the brand logo. While designing the grille, Toyota designers have used a lot of chrome for wide and broad horizontal slats to bring out the intimidating look of the SUV. These slats are perfectly aligned with the car’s headlamps.

LED smoke headlamps and rear LED combination lamps

The SUV’s front chrome grille is teamed up with aggressively styled LED headlamps, which are far more powerful and energy-efficient as compared to standard halogen filaments. These stylish LED headlamps also carry daytime running lights and have an auto on/off function that adds to the driver’s convenience. At the rear of the crossover SUV, we can again find the LED treatment within the tail lamp panels that can better inform the SUV’s position to fellow motorists while on the go, even in bad weather conditions.

Alloy wheels

The latest iteration of the Rush rides on 17-inch alloy wheels that are striking to look at. Wrapped around 215/60 large tyres, the rims perfectly suit the tough exterior of the SUV.

High ground clearance

Another striking feature of the Toyota Rush exterior is the high ground clearance that measures 220 mm. With this, the driver sits high and holds a commanding driving position. It also boosts the confidence while going over rough terrain, speed bumps, or potholes; and it could also give the car a certain mild off-road capability.

Smart entry and push start button

Just like any other modern-day car, the Rush also has a smart entry system that lets the owner get in and out of the car without taking the keys in hand. It also has an engine start-stop button as a welcome addition adding to its premiumness.

Touchscreen infotainment system

For entertainment on the go, the Toyota Rush gets a 6.8-inch touchscreen audio system located at the center of the dashboard. Paired with six speakers, the system has various connectivity options like Bluetooth, AUX, USB to take care of the occupants’ music needs.

7-seater with flexible arrangement

Whether it is making space for more passengers or luggage, the Toyota Rush is a perfect fit for any situation. The SUV’s second row comes with 60:40 split-fold, sliding and reclining, and one-touch tumble, while the third row features 50:50 split-fold and individual tumble.

Multiple cupholders

Toyota has loaded the three-row Rush with a total of 13 cup holders, yes, you read that right. It is fitted with more cup holders than the number of passengers it can actually carry, which keep them hydrated during long drives and heavy traffic.

1.5L dual VVT-i engine

Powering the Toyota Rush a 1.5-litre 4-pot dual VVT-i engine, which produces a maximum power of 105 PS at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 136 Nm at 4,200 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The SUV takes a gingerly 13 seconds to hit the 100 kmph mark before attaining the top speed of 175 kmph.

Safety equipment

With a satisfying five-star safety rating by the ASEAN NCAP, the Toyota Rush safety features include six airbags (driver, front passenger, side & curtain), an anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist, vehicle stability control, hill-start assist control, blind-spot monitor, parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, and emergency stop signal. The top variant also comes with pre-collision warning and braking, front departure alert, and pedal misoperation control.
