Toyota Indonesia introduces all-new Yaris Cross; gets new hybrid variant, revised design, improved safety

KUALA LUMPUR: It was only a while back that the all-new Toyota Yaris Cross made its ASEAN debut in Indonesia, and now the car is formally launched in the country.

While Malaysians get the standard Yaris hatchback, it is interesting to see what the new Cross variant has to offer. So, without any delay let’s check out the new Yaris Cross in detail.

Price & Variants

The new Yaris is offered in three variant options, namely - the G Type, S Type, and the S HEV Type. They are priced as follows

Powertrain

The new Yaris Cross G Type & S Type is powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol mill generating a maximum power of 106 PS along with a peak torque of 138 Nm. The drive is sent to the front wheels via a CVT automatic unit; the G Type gets a 5-speed manual transmission as an option.

The S HV Type, on the other hand, is the only hybrid variant in the Yaris Cross lineup and features a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine making 91 PS and 121 Nm of torque. The setup includes an 80PS/141Nm electric motor which is juiced by a lithium-ion battery. The drive is transmitted to the front wheels via a CVT automatic.
