Toyota Hilux & Fortuner recalled over braking issue
KUALA LUMPUR: Pay attention Toyota Fortuner and Hilux owners, as yours could be a malfunctioned car.
Earlier today, UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT), the official distributor of Toyota and Lexus cars in the country released a press release. In the said PR, UMWT announced a Special Service Campaign (SSC) for the Fortuner SUV and Hilux pickup.
The SSC concerns brake booster inspection and replacement activity.
As per Toyota Motor Corporation, a total of 12,997 vehicles are part of the campaign - 1,426 units of Fortuner and 11,571 units of Hilux; manufactured between July 2018 - January 2019.
What is the problem?
The issue revolves around the resin pistons in the brake booster which if unsolved could compromise with the braking performance of the vehicle.
How will be the affected car owner's informed?
Toyota will send notification letters to all the owners with affected cars. The vehicle will be checked and the problem rectified free of cost.
