Toyota Gazoo Racing to initiate sales of GR Supra GT4 in Europe

KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota GR Supra GT4 Concept was unveiled in March this year. After around three months in July, the production version of the car was introduced. Now, again, after about three months, Toyota Gazoo Racing has declared the exact timeline from when the car will go on sale in Europe.

The Finland-based team has finally announced Toyota GR Supra GT4 will hit the European market in March next year. North America and Japan (Asia) will follow Europe in August and October 2020, respectively. However, Toyota has only announced the price tag for Europe at the moment.

Toyota GR Supra GT4 is developed and produced by TMG (Toyota Motorsport GmbH) and is based on A90 GR Supra, which was launched in Malaysia in September this year. However, the race car weighs around 200 kg less than the A90 Supra.

Speaking of the GT4 race category, it is popular around the world for its ease of entry and low cost. The category is also eligible for a range of races across the world. To mention, the GT4 race cars can participate in GT4 European Series, Japan’s Super Taikyu Series, VLN Endurance Championship Nurburging in Europe, and many more.

Moving to the powertrain section, it is equipped with a straight-six 3.0-litre turbocharged engine that churns out a maximum power of 429 hp and a peak torque of 650 Nm, while the road car’s engine, on which it is based, pushes out 335 hp of maximum power and 500 Nm of peak torque. The engine in the GR Supra GT4 is mated to a seven-speed automatic gearbox with a mechanical limited-slip differential.

GR Supra GT4 will use MacPherson front suspension along with a rear multilink setup. It gets adjustable KW racing dampers at every corner. At the front, there are Brembo six-piston brake callipers, and at the rear, four-piston callipers are present.

As mentioned above, the European price tag (excluding custom fee, taxes, and logistic fees) for GR Supra GT4 is 175,000 euros, which is equivalent to RM 13,608. The contact authority for Europe is TMG.
