In the latest avatar, the Avanza looks more promising and convincing than the model it replaces. The MPV’s neatly sculpted front face incorporates a bold chrome-laden upper grille and an aggressively-molded bumper. The LED headlights feature a split design. With the top portion assigned to the actual headlamps, while the bottom part houses the turn signals and running lights. The next best thing on the front is the huge multi-slate vent that gives it most of its character and is further linked to the fog lamps.

At the rear end, the main highlights are a sporty bumper and a premium chrome garnish between the large L-shaped tail lamps. The shark fin antenna, distinctive roof spoiler, and 15-inch alloy wheels also make this MPV look appealing in profile.

Dimensionally, it measures 4,200 mm long, 1,660 mm wide, 1,695 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,655 mm. The ground clearance reads 180 mm.

Toyota Avanza colour options include Super White II, Silver Mica Metallic, Dark Red Mica Metallic, and Black Metallic.

Toyota Avanza interior

Toyota always nails it when it comes to the cars’ interior ergonomics and practicality, and the Avanza MPV is no different in this. It gets an array of nifty features like automatic climate control with rear vents, power-retractable wing mirrors, parking sensors with a reversing camera, steering wheel with tilt adjustment, USB charging ports, power windows, footrest, luggage tray, bag hook, and a spacious boot.

For infotainment, the base trims come with a 2-DIN head unit with a CD player with tuner, AUX, MP3, USB, and Bluetooth, while the top-spec variant gets a 6.75-inch touchscreen system with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay support. A sporty driver’s instrument cluster with a multi-information digital display is also available in the top two trims. For upholstery, fabric seat material comes as standard.

With the 2019 model, the automaker has also brought down the noise, vibration, and harshness levels inside the MPV for extra comfort.

Toyota Avanza engine and fuel efficiency

Powering the MPV is a 1.5-litre four-popper gasoline unit that generates a maximum power of 105 PS at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 136 Nm at 4,200 rpm. The power is sent down to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. It takes 13.5 seconds to reach 100 kmph before topping the maximum speed of 180 kmph. The fuel economy of the Toyota Avanza is rated at 13 kmpl.

Toyota Avanza safety

Toyota has fitted the Avanza with a number of safety features, which include two SRS airbags (driver and front passenger), an Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), rear parking sensors, collapsible steering column, ISOFIX, and 3 Point ELR seat belt in all three rows.  The range-topping 1.5S+ also gets some advanced safety techs like Front Digital Video Recorder, and Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

Optional features include roof-mounted monitor, rear digital video recorder, and Toyota premium security & solar film.

Toyota Avanza service and maintenance

Toyota Avanza comes with a five-year/unlimited mileage warranty that covers a comprehensive list of services. The periodic maintenance could be done after every 6-months or 10,000 km, whichever comes first.
