The tentative price of the 2023 Perodua Axia ranges between RM 38,600 and RM 49,500.In light of the details the automaker uncovered so far, one thing is pretty clear that the upcoming 2023 Perodua Axia is a lot more advanced than before. It is equipped with lots of advanced digital and safety features, here’s a list of the top 7 out of them -
Perodua Smart Drive Assist
The upgraded hatchback is loaded with Perodua’s Smart Drive Assist, which is highly appreciable as this is the first time an entry-level car offers such sort of advanced driver assistance system.
The said ADAS suite consists of four categories - Advanced Safety Assist (ASA), Driving Assist, Parking Assist 360°, and Headlamp Assist, which further incorporates several advanced systems. While Perodua is yet to make a clarification on which of these systems will make up for the new Axia, we can expect the inclusion of adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane departure prevention, rear sensors, and auto high beam.
7.0-inch digital metre panel
Another new feature you will find on the second-gen Axia is a 7.0-inch TFT ((Thin-Film transistor) multi-info display. It houses a “3D ring” tachometer and a digital speedometer readout and looks similar to the one available on the Ativa and new Alza. It is an exclusive feature of the top-spec AV trim.
9.0-inch display audio system
Also new for the 2023 Perodua Axia AV is an advanced floating-style 9.0-inch touchscreen display infotainment system as the lower trims will continue to come with a standard non-touchscreen unit. The size of the new display matches the unit offered with the Ativa and its graphics look similar as well. Thus it may support voice commands and SmartLink phone mirroring functions as in the case of the compact SUV.
D-CVT gearbox
While the new Axia continues to equip the non-turbo mill, the mechanical setup of the hatchback does get an upgrade. That’s in the form of a new CVT gearbox, called Dual-Mode CVT. It is the first split-gear CVT system in the world that combines a belt drive with a gear drive resulting in enhanced acceleration, quietness, and fuel efficiency. As for the latter, Perodua claims a figure of 27.4 kmpl (3.64 litres per 100 km) based on the new Malaysian driving cycle mode.
LED headlights and DRLs
The refreshed Axia also boasts new LED headlights paired with new LED daytime-running lights, which are located in T-shaped housings on the corners of the bumper. While the former will be available on the three higher trims (X, SE, and AV) of the hatchback, the latter will remain exclusive to the SE and AV.
Power Mode Drive
The range-topping variants of the 2023 Perodua Axia will also come equipped with a new ‘Power Mode Drive’ system. The feature borrowed from the Myvi and Ativa helps in tightening the response of the mill and the new CVT gearbox resulting in a more engaging driving experience.
Key free entry
One more exciting feature we will find on the new Axia is the Keyless entry. Although the automaker did not spill the beans on the working of this feature, the revealed teaser shot previewed an electrostatic sensor, where the job gets done conveniently with a mere touch while eliminating the need for a button press.
So, those were the top seven new features that the upcoming Perodua Axia has to offer. Bookings of this upgraded hatchback are now underway at all authorised Perodua sales showrooms across the country. Available colour choices are Coral Blue (newly added), Granite Grey, Glittering Silver, Lava Red, and Ivory White.
