Three Hyundai SUVs coming to Malaysia in 2023
KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai Malaysia recently uploaded a video on its official website Facebook page wherein it teases a few of its upcoming models. The list included one EV, the IONIQ 6, and three SUVs namely, the Creta, Santa Fe, and Palisade.
While we have already discussed the Ioniq 6 in detail, here we'll be concentrating on the upcoming SUVs. So, let’s get started -
Hyundai Creta
The B-segment Hyundai SUV has been sighted quite a few times in Malaysia in facelifted guise and was recently launched in Indonesia in November last year.
Dimensions: Positioned below the Kona, the Creta SUV measures 4,315 mm in length, 1,630 mm in width, and 1,630 mm in height. Its wheelbase stretches 2,610 mm.
Engine: In Thailand and Indonesia, the SUV is powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre engine churning 115 PS at 6,300 rpm and 144 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm.
Features: The local-spec model is expected to feature an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, Qi wireless charger, an automatic air con system with rear vents, and more. The safety would get autonomous emergency braking, lane centering assist, lane keeping assists, blind spot monitoring with collision avoidance, and door opening warning.
Hyundai Santa Fe
Hyundai recently introduced the 4th Santa Fe which rides on the new ‘Integrated Architecture’, making it the first company SUV to benefit from this 3rd gen platform.
Engine: The Indonesia-spec model is powered by a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre petrol engine or a 2.2-litre turbo diesel unit. The two mills are paired with either a 6-speed automatic transmission or an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Features: The SUV is expected to come equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 4.2-inch multi-info display, and a wireless phone charger.
Safety: Taking care of the car’s safety profile is - Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Safe Exit Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance, Driver Attention Warning, and Blind-Spot View Monitor
Hyundai Palisade
The Palisade received a facelift in April this year and made its Indonesian debut in August this year.
Engine: The Indonesian-spec models are offered in three trim levels; all of which are powered by a 2.2-litre turbo diesel mill making 200 PS at 3,800 rpm and 440 Nm from 1,750 to 2,750 rpm. The drive is sent to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Features: The SUV’s feature kit includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster display, Nappa leather upholstery, a suede headliner, LED interior lighting, dual powered sunroofs, driver’s seat memory, heating and ventilation for the second row, Qi wireless charger, rear side sunshades, a powered tailgate with hands-free function and a 12-speaker Infinity sound system.
Safety: Part of the car’s standard safety kit is six airbags, ABS, ESC, Vehicle Stability Management, hill start assist, Multi Collision Brake, brake assist, and Safe Exit Assist, with the base Prime variant getting a reverse camera and rear Parking Distance Warning
