Third-gen Nissan Navara facelift revealed
KUALA LUMPUR: In the past few weeks, we have come across several leaked images and teasers of the revised Nissan Navara. And now, the automaker has taken the covers off the third-gen model of the pickup that benefits from a revised exterior, technological improvements, and new comfort & safety features.
Apart from the above-mentioned revisions, Nissan has officially dropped the NP300 middle name, a change we saw earlier in several markets.
Nissan Navara facelift: What's new?
Exterior
Starting with the exterior, the Navara pickup now gets Titan inspired 'interlock' grille with three mesh pattern bars surrounded by chrome and 'NAVARA' name resting at the centre. Complementing it are the new quad-projector LED headlamps and C-shaped DRLs. The bonnet is now taller and comes with a central bulge, as for the front cross-shaped bumper it incorporates a large skid plate with tow hook covers and vertical air intakes.
On the sides, it gets new side finishers that not only reduce fuel consumption and wind noise but also improves the pickup's aerodynamic performance. The facelifted Navara rolls on 17-inch black wheels wrapped in all-terrain tyres.
At the rear, the new Navara gets LED taillamps with C-shape graphics, a revised tailgate with NAVARA wording, and a rear bumper with a built-in step.
Interior
The cabin look and feel of the third-gen Navara mostly remain the same as the previous model. However, the pickup comes with several new technological and comforting features, included in the list is -
- New 7-inch multi-info instrument cluster with high resolution
- 8-inch touch infotainment system with Nissan Connect and Apple CarPlay
- Several USB ports with a new USB-C port at the front
- Increased sound insulation
- Acoustic glass used in the Windscreen and front side windows
- Reshaped rear seat cushions and backs
- New rear armrest with integrated cupholders
- Rain sensing wipers
- Speed-sensing door locks
- Auto-folding door mirrors
Performance
As for now, Nissan has not mentioned a word about new Navara's engine configuration. However, we expect the pickup to be powered by the same, tried and tested 2.3-litre single- and twin-turbo four-cylinder engine developing maximum power of 188 hp at 3,750 rpm and a peak torque of 450 Nm from 1,500 to 2,500 rpm. On the transmission side, a 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic gearbox will be on offer along with rear- and four-wheel-drive options.
The suspension will be taken care of by the same old coil-sprung multilink unit with a strengthened live rear axle. The payload capacity of the pickup is now enhanced. Part of the revised package is also a new steering rack that calls for increased response and low-speed manoeuvrability.
Safety
Nissan has loaded the all-new Navara pickup with many safety features. Included in its active safety pack are -
- Autonomous Emergency Braking
- Blind Spot Monitoring
- Lane Departure Warning with braking intervention
- Driver Attention Alert
- 360-degree Camera System with Moving Object Detection
- Off-road Mode
The all-new third-gen Nissan Navara has a lot to offer and it will surely give a tough competition to its rivals.
