Sime Darby Motors rolled out an innovative mobility solution for its employees

KUALA LUMPUR: Automotive groups are coming up with innovative mobility solutions that put customer needs at the forefront and its recent example is the Employee Mobility at Ease Programme (EMAEP) launched by Sime Darby Motors. It is on offer for all employees of Sime Darby Berhad and its subsidiaries in Peninsular Malaysia and involves greater flexibility to own selected SDM franchise cars and used cars, with no or minimal down payment.

Unlike traditional car ownership in which the customer owns a car for a five to nine-year period depending on the loan tenure, Sime Darby’s EMAEP gives the employees an opportunity to own a car on a 1-year subscription. With that, they can have the flexibility to upgrade or switch the car based on their needs or choices. After completing the 1-year term, the car is returned to the company’s used car arm, Sime Darby Auto Selection.

To avail this offer, SDM staff needs to pay a fixed monthly fee for a lock-in period of one year. The fee includes not only the car, but also other expenses such as insurance, road tax, maintenance, and wear and tear. This means it will save the car owners from unpredictable depreciation costs that arise due to various uncontrollable factors.

Commenting on the launch of EMAEP, Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of SDM Malaysia’s Retail and Distribution said, “The modern marketplace is asking for mobility solutions, not just transportation and EMAEP is the logical response to society’s changing mobility needs. EMAEP guarantees mobility and the joy of experiencing a new car every year, with peace of mind”.

“SDM is constantly looking at ways in which we can leverage on our expertise and customer know-how to elevate our value proposition. This programme addresses customer’s wants for convenience and choice but also complements our existing initiatives by SDAS to provide consistent and quality used car supply”, he added.

With the SDAS online used car store, customers can search from a wide range of up to 300 high-quality used or nearly new cars. It is to be noted that these are not limited to SDM’s stable of franchise brands.
