Save the date - smart #3 launching on July 10 in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: smart Malaysia is all set to expand its lineup in Malaysia with the launch of its second EV, the #3. This highly anticipated electric vehicle will be officially launched on July 10, 2024.

The smart #3 made its first appearance at an exclusive preview event held at smart Malaysia's headquarters in Subang Jaya and later at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024. Bookings for the EV have been open since its debut at the show.

Built on the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), the smart #3 is offered in three variants - Pro, Premium and Brabus. Both Pro and Premium trims are powered by the same rear-mounted single motor tuned to generate a maximum power of 272 PS and a peak torque of 343 Nm. This grunt is enough to accelerate the EV from zero to 100 kmph in 5.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 kmph.

However, when it comes to battery setup, Pro and Premium variants are different. The Pro comes equipped with a 49 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) unit offering a range of 325 km while the Premium has a 66 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery letting the EV cruise up to 455 km on a single charge.

The top-spec Brabus variant exclusively features a dual-motor intelligent AWD powertrain, delivering 428 PS and 543 Nm of torque. It can complete the century sprint in just 3.7 seconds—quite impressive, isn’t it? 

As for the battery, it carries the 66 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) unit as the Premium model. However, in the top-spec variant, the range is slightly reduced to 415 km as it prioritises performance over efficiency.

The smart #3  is 4,400 mm long, 1,844 mm wide, 1,556 mm tall, and carries a wheelbase of 2,785 mm. In terms of looks, the EV looks striking with an Illuminated front grille, CyberSparksLED + headlights, 19-inch ‘Flux’ wheels, and a Panoramic Halo Roof 

Depending on the variant selected, the EV comes equipped with a 9.2-inch digital instrument panel, a 12.8-inch infotainment unit, a 10-inch head-up display, 13-speaker Beats sound system, ambient lighting, single-zone automatic control, Automatic Parking Assistant, and advanced driver assistance systems.

The smart #3 colour options are as follows - 

Pro	Digital White and Meta Black
Premium	Digital White, Ceramic Cream, Future Green, Electron Blue (matte), Cyber Silver, and Quantum Blue.
Brabus	Digital White, Orange, Atom Grey, and Meta Black

As for pricing, we need to wait for the smart #3 official launch in Malaysia, which is just a few days away.
