While the automaker has not yet revealed the model’s name, the teaser images clearly suggest it is the M6. The BYD M6 is an electric family MPV with no direct rivals in Malaysia, however, it serves as an electric alternative to the Perodua Alza, Toyota Veloz, and Mitsubishi Xpander.

The upcoming M6 will be the fourth BYD EV in the local market after the Atto 3, Dolphin, and Seal. First launched in Indonesia in July this year, the MPV debuted in Thailand just last month. The three-row MPV comes in two seating layouts - six and seven-seater.

The BYD M6 is 4,710 mm long, 1,810 mm wide, and 1,690 mm tall and spans a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. In comparison, Malaysia’s best-selling family MPV, the Perodua Alza, measures 4,425 mm in length, 1,730 mm in width, 1,670 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm.

Inspired by the BYD Dynasty Series, the M6 boasts a Dragon Face 3.0 front grille paired with LED lighting units. Other key exterior highlights include - wing-shaped front bumper inserts, aluminium side sills, 17-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels, and full-width tail lights.

The cabin has a modern and minimalist design with a 12.8-inch rotating infotainment unit, a five-inch multi-info display, and faux leather upholstery. Other creature comforts include - a Qi wireless charging pad, automatic air conditioning system, Apple CarPlay connectivity, ventilated front seats, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a vehicle-to-load function, and a 360-degree camera system.

In the neighbouring markets, the EV comes in two different single motor setups; the base-spec generates 163 PS and 310 Nm of torque while the higher-spec is good for making 204 PS and the same 310 Nm of torque. The battery options include - 55.4 kWh and 71.8 kWh, offering an NEDC-rated range of 420 km and 530 km, respectively.

Well, for the exact specifications and pricing, we have to wait for the BYD M6 launch in Malaysia, which is just a week away.

After launch, the electric MPV will be on display at Dataran Karnival, Perkarangan Stadium Shah Alam, from October 18 to 20, 2024, between 9 AM and 7 PM. Interested folks can book their slot to experience and test drive the latest EV and participate in fun activities powered by the BYD V2L technology.
